I applaud Capcom's valiant efforts of porting these games to a mobile chipset, and even keeping in mind these are mobile games played on a portable system, I feel that we should demand more from AAA priced games on a phone.

Some takeaways:

  • Game renders internally at 300p
  • MetalFX has no chance of going up against FSR, XESS, DLSS or other popular upscalers
  • 30fps with poor/incosistent framepacing
  • Huge frame drops from time to time

When I heard the game has 200ms input lag with a bluetooth controller, I almost fell out of my seat.

The games I'm playing on PC right now with frame generation don't even have that kind of an input delay. Again, mobile chipset, I get it.

What do you think? Will you ever play games like these on a mobile phone? Do you already do so?

Do you think Mirage and Death Stranding will be the saviours of AAA games on iPhone devices?

Never had anything against mobile/tablets, just the business models were basically a pyramid scheme.

Hook em' up as an emulator, good time.

Would the smaller screen not negate this where it's "whatever"?

Videos complaining about some fluttering effects cut on a screen few inches long, prob wouldn't care.

For me it's more like:

Look at a game like RE Revelations, obviously it's scaled back to run on 3DS. But on the other hand it makes great use of that hardware by making the levels more linear and claustrophobic but also by using more crude models with brighter textures.

Here we have a high fidelity game that's being scaled down to a screen the size of an ant. At least artstyle wise I think this game just fits less than the 13 years old 3DS game.

Secondly and this brings us to performance but you will notice inconsistent 30 with bad framepacing and 200ms delays.

Yes, mobile phones are versatile, have great emulators and buying a Capcom game for $60 is probably a better idea than gambling your life savings away buying a new skirt for your Genshin Impact character, but I feel the quality is not quite there yet. It's inching ever so closer, but this ... this just isn't a great result.

@R4gn4r0k: Yes, price is a factor. Take into account the hardware limitations going in, give a reasonable price and something that is fully-playable, can play on-the-go, great.

But if it's like, £60 - £70? Basically the same price or comparable to that of an experience you can get on PC or consoles. Yea, na.

When it comes to mobile/phone tablet games native, minimal control and hardware, where you can have an experience with substance that isn't just a downgraded experience of something you can play better elsewhere. Nintendo already had it. Everyone seems to have just ignored it.

@uninspiredcup: I remember this and Spirit tracks being trashed on a lot for simplifying Zelda, but that is exactly what we want on a mobile platform.

Let's be honest, who wants to sit through hour long cutscenes in a mobile game?

@R4gn4r0k: Haven't played that but enjoyed Phantom Hourglass. The fact they got so much out of what was essentially just a pen was impressive.

Though can understand why many gamers turned their nose up at it.

@howmakewood: Apple should follow Nintendo and when you connect your phone to a big screen allow the chip to run hotter.

300p are simply not enough pixels to reconstruct into anything worthwhile.

With this level of latency, cloud gaming is much better.

Mobile uptick in performance and expectations of what can be done has been pretty impressive. The convergence is starting to become a reality.😎

Are you ready to play 60 for your mobile ports and throw out your PS5 and Xbox?

I'm not a fan of Mobile games but good for those who love'em. Didn't know Mobile games have evolved to the stage where they can match console quality.

Is this worth the effort? 300p with bad input lag and poor performance sounds miserable.

The Village port is even worse, I'm not kidding; it gives a settings menu but the conversion just runs really poorly.

It seems like Capcom is learning as they go along, which I wanna applaud them for but these games should be priced lower.

I'm just disappointed in both consumers and game companies.

Heck most of the stuff I hate in current day AAA gaming can be tracedd back to mobile gaming.

Let's see, daily incentives to play, store page being front and center on every game you launch, microtransactions, ...

I wish China went through with banning this shit. Unfortunately capitalism triumphed that day.
