I have an external hard drive that was licensed for xbox but apparently it doesn't work on the series x, just xbox one. I keep getting a message that a game can't be played from external hard drive and it mentions a storage expansion card. Does anyone have any experience with a storage expansion card? I want to get more space for my series x but I don't want to find out that it doesn't work after spending $150

@beantown985: For the series S/X's games will require the Expansion card as they wont work on a normal external HDD you can either get a 1tb or a 2tb. If you are thinking of getting one the safest way of getting one is through Microsoft themselves.

your External HDD can run xbox one games only on series S/X

Hope this helps
