New Maps

Remember the Scrapyard map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2? It's back in Modern Warfare with a new name--Zhokov Scrapyard. A smaller map, Zhokov Scrapyard takes place in a ... scrapyard of airplane parts. Activision provided a special tip, saying people might be smart to use the FMJ perk to have better success firing on enemies thanks to its increased bullet penetration.

For the Ground War mode, Infinity Ward has added a map called Barakett Promenande. This map will feel familiar to Warzone players, as it's pulled directly from the battle royale game. "Take advantage of building rooftops to add some verticality into your playstyle or come ready for close quarters combat and do a clean sweep of the interiors," Infinity Ward said.

The third new map with Season 4 is Trench, and it's available in the Gunfight mode. The map takes the form of a series of interconnected trenches. At any point you can jump out of the trench, but doing so leaves you very exposed.

All three of these maps are available right now at the start of Season 4.

New Modes And Missions

Infinity Ward is adding new modes and missions to Modern Warfare in Season 4. Coming at some point during the season is Team Defender, which is basically capture the flag. One player holds the flag while their teammates defend them. Another new mode, One in the Chamber, is a free-for-all mode where players begin with a handgun and just one bullet. It only requires one shot to kill an enemy, and you can get more bullets by taking down enemies with your handgun or with melee. You have three lives in One in the Chamber.

The third new mode coming to Modern Warfare in Season 4 is All or Nothing, which is a free-for-all mode where players only have a handgun and a throwing knife.

Infinity Ward also announced that more missions and challenges are available in Season 4 for Modern Warfare. You can find them through the Challenges tab. Additionally, there are new ribbons to earn for Season 4, and you can track these through the Rank Progression page. Players who achieve the maximum rank during Season 4 will earn a special weapon blueprint.
