Final Fantasy XIV patch 6.4, The Dark Throne, is scheduled to release in late May alongside new Main Scenario Quests, a dungeon, raid, and more.

During the latest Letter From the Producer broadcast, Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida and global community producer Toshio Murouchi confirmed a release window for the next major update and informed players of what they can expect when it arrives. Titled The Dark Throne, patch 6.4 will continue with its post-Endwalker storyline and deliver a series of brand-new Main Scenario Quests.

The new quests will feature a new dungeon called the Aethorfont, as well as a new trial--the Voidcast Dais--which will lead the Warrior of Light to come face-to-face with Golbez. An extreme version of this trial will also be available. Pandemonium: Anabaseios, the newest raid tier, will arrive with patch 6.4. Anabaseios follows the previous tiers of the raid, Asphodelos and Abyssos, and will likely wrap up the story of Pandemonium. A Savage version will release one week after 6.4 launches.

Duty support will be added to Stormblood Main Scenario dungeons, allowing players to complete duties with NPCs like Lord Hien and Gosetsu, while Ocean Fishing will be heading to the Fast East, specifically Kugane.

Additionally, Blue Mage players will be pleased to know that its level cap has been increased to 80 and will feature an expanded spell list, with new weapons and gear to obtain. The Masked Carnivale--a series of quests exclusive to Blue Mage--has also been updated alongside the new level cap.

Yoshida confirmed that the second installment of the Variant and Criterion Dungeon will arrive later in patch 6.45, but revealed that another update to Island Sanctuary is on its way too. This update will feature new sanctuary ranks, a brand-new area to explore, as well as the ability to place outdoor furnishings for better island personalization.

Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood, the MMO's second major expansion, is now free to claim for a limited time.
