It has been an excellent year for video games so far, and chances are, you might have missed out on one of the best titles of the year between all of the big attention-grabbing releases. Remnant 2 is that game, a well-received and challenging action-RPG that mixes a souls-likes approach with post-apocalyptic vibes. It's on sale now during Black Friday month, and Amazon is offering a 26% discount on the PlayStation 5 version of the game. You can also save on the PC version of the sequel. If you'd like to try out the original game on Switch, there's a pretty good deal available for it as well.

While the first Remnant game was promising, it wasn't without some glaring faults. Remnant 2 addresses those issues and builds on its foundation with an expanded Archetype system that empowers players, branching quest lines, and multiple worlds to explore with different types of creatures, weapons, and items. Each biome in Remnant 2's harsh frontier is full of deadly enemies, and choosing the right gear to take on these foes will help you earn the best rewards.

"Remnant 2 is exactly what you want from a sequel, such is the way it expands and improves upon the first game's ideas," Richard Wakeling wrote in GameSpot's Remnant 2 review. It's not likely to blow you away, but the core gameplay loop--built on rewarding combat, an ever-expanding repertoire of skills and abilities, and the randomness of its procedural generation--latches on and refuses to let go. The final realm is disappointing because of an artificial difficulty spike, and the story is still lackluster and easy to ignore, but those looking for a solid and malleable shooter won't go far wrong with Remnant 2."

For another game deal, check out this special for Assassin's Creed Mirage. Released only about a month ago, the deluxe edition is available for $45 and the standard version is only $40 for a limited time.
