Toy Story 4 to Be Love Story About Woody and Bo Peep

Details have emerged about Pixar's plans for the fourth Toy Story movie. At the studio's D23 Expo, chief creative officer John Lasseter explained that the next part of the studio's animated franchise would be a "a love story."

Toy Story 3 seemed to conclude the series so neatly that many were surprised when a fourth entry was announced late last year. But Lasseter--who directed the first two parts--was quick to defend the decision to continue. "At Pixar and at Disney, we only do a sequel if we have come up with something that's as good or better than the original," he said "We don't do things just to print money. It's about great stories."

Lasseter confirmed that the picture would focus upon the relationship between cowboy Woody and Bo Peep, who was sold in a garage sale after Toy Story 2 and appeared only in a flashback in the last film. "As we were looking around we came up with this idea, because Bo Peep was not in Toy Story 3, and it actually worked beautifully into this. So Woody and Buzz Lightyear go out to find Bo Peep and bring her back, and it's a very special and emotional love story."

The original Toy Story was released in 1995, and was both Pixar's debut feature and the very first full-length entirely computer animated film. It went on to make $360 million at the global box office, while the two sequels, released in 1999 and 2010, were similar-sized successes.
