User Rating: 10 | Assassin's Creed Odyssey PS4
Assassinations, cults, the animus, historical landscapes and figures, pieces of Eden, and a tale of underdogs rising up to overcome a secret, oppressing cult - this is as every part an Assassin's Creed game, but minus the stagnancy the "old" AC games were reaching, and with improvement on every gameplay element from Origins. Pros: - dialogue options make interactions more engaging - new cinematic views for dialogue scenes, including side-missions scenes, pull you in - quality of side-missions has greatly improved, with many interlinked with the main story - skill tree vastly improved, meaning more variety and greater options for combos in combat - multiple endings influenced by your choices makes for a more personalised story - playing both sides of the Peloponnesian war as a bounty hunter with questionable morals was exciting, and playing as a female was more refreshing than I imagined - massive world with so much to do, fleshing out the reoccurring characters, expanding the lore of Assassin's Creed, all the while teaching the player a thing or two about Ancient Greece Cons: - horrendous lip synching on dialogue - cutscenes can feel so lifeless, for example, after winning the Olympics, instead of being surrounded by hundreds of people, there was a group of, maybe, 20 NPCs standing awkwardly metres apart. The game is already huge so this may be a limitation, so it was easily forgivable
