Crackdown Review

Just bought the game today, its for the 360.
First off, its great because you get a Halo 3 Beta invitation. Which allows you to download the first multiplayer beta of Halo 3. Its only for a limited time though. The game also comes with 48 hours of a free XBL Gold Membership. Its complete with basic instruction manual, and a map of the city.
When first playing the game you basically get a rundown of what exactly is going on. Basic information about gangs, and some city history. Also, what elite police group you are part of.
Once that is done, you start by picking a character. There are many different choices. Asian guy, black guy, and an indian guy to name a few. Once that is done you jump into the game. Starting at the police headquarters. Since the game is open-world from there, you can pretty much do as you please. Of course the game does offer guidance.
Personally, I love the setup of the game. Its really fun. All of the controls are really different from any other game, which makes them a little difficult to get down. Once you master the controls, the game really becomes fun. Blasting away the enemies with machine guns, assault rifles, and sniper rifles is a blast. With some decent blood effects, and the animations supporting "rag-doll physics."
There are also many different cars, but you usually won't find yourself in a vehicle. At least, not in the beginning. I stay on foot for almost everything, simply because you can collect orbs to raise your stats. Plus, when in a car it can sometimes be hard to control. As a result you mow down pedestrians, which in turn takes down your stats.
So far its a game that seems fun, and its great for anytime. Its not something you have to sit down and play for hours, you can just pick it up for 10 or 15 minutes.
There aren't many downsides to the game. I only complain that the graphics aren't really up to 360 standards. Also, sometimes the game gets a little repetitive.
Although I have not touched the online portion of the game, it looks like it could be fun. With the ability to let a friend jump right into your game. I might adventure into this as I get more familiar with the game.
Thats pretty much it for now. I would recommend this title to anyone with a 360.
