Before August 2006, I was a prominent contributor to the site formerly known as MaddenNation.com, but with an increasing school workload and a burnout from an 18-hour Maddenfest on release night, I had to put down the controller for awhile. Well, even though I still don't have the passion that I once had with all of the other things in my life that I have to put ahead of gaming, I still have the aspirations to make a comeback into the arena I know and love, not only on a fun and enjoyable level, but on a competitive level as well.
I have always been a competitive person and could not standing anything less than a victory. When I first joined up on MN back in 2004, I was a terrible player with no strategy but bomb it deep and hope for the best. However in Madden 06, I made my mark, making it into the top 100 online for the PS2 version and being able to hold my own with a gameplan and strategy. However, after making the move to the next gen console, XBOX 360, my skills have been diminished back to the way they were back in Madden 2005 with a limited amount of features that I had at my disposal in the past gen versions.
I have always been a part of the sim style ball community and frowned upon cheesy gameplay, but this year I feel since I have a little more time on my hands and ready to make a move back into the ranks of the dangerous and not the "cake game" and would like to test the waters of not only online leagues and tournaments through the site, but also the big time. The Madden Challenge.
I have always wanted to test my skills against the best of the best but either never had the time or didn't feel like taking the 2-3 hour trip to Pittsburgh or Detroit. However this year is different. I have always looked for something that I was exceptionally good at and to use it to help me out in having fun and if the opportunity presented itself to make a profit out of it. I have had a huge knowledge of sports video games, the only video games I play and I now want to use that knowledge and apply it to my Madden game. Come August 14th it's going to take a lot of time and effort, probably a lot of late nights after doing a research paper or running a cross country race, but I feel it will be worth it if I can go out and beat a few opponents in the big time challenge in late October in the Three River City.
With such a long break from playing Madden or any sports game for that matter, it's taken me a little while to get back into the groove of things, I've been utterly terrible thusfar in NCAA 08 online but it's all part of the process, I need to get my feet back underneath me before I can progress to gameplans and such. I've always had a huge love for the Madden series and hopefully hard work and my passion for the game will pay off in the long run. So from an avid "Maddenite" to another, I would like to ask you all to help me out or cheer me on in this road back to where I once was, a big time Maddener.
