In nearly an exact repeat of last year's first round, the Ottawa Senators won their first round series in 5 games. The Pittsburgh Penguins put up a much greater fight than the Tampa Bay Lightning did last year however they simply could not match the Senators' offense depth nor could Crosby break free from Volchenkov and Phillips.

Round 2 will once again prove to be a much tougher task for Ottawa this year. A lot of people have been writing off the Senators because of what happened in 2003. However, these are not the same lineups at all, a few major changes include:

Ottawa's lineup in 2003 included the likes of Hossa, Bonk, Ardvedson and Lalime. New Jersey's lineup in 2003 included the likes of Nieuwendyk, Niedermayer and Stevens

The Sens have added gritty talent such as Dean McAmmond and goal scoring power of Dany Heatley. While the Devils have extracted a lot of their playoff grit, they have added offensive talent such as Zach Parise and Travis Zajac.

It should be an interesting series with both teams trying to establish the flow of the game. New Jersey will try to slow it down and try to capitalize on the Senators' turnovers, Ottawa will try to establish a physical speedy game and play a down low game against the sub-par New Jersey defense.
