In Entertainment To stop the Option Entry Tools Rate This Entry

Glad there is a lot of the on how to stop the option. This is my base offense so i know what can stop me. Some people gonna tell you to play zone, man, blah blah blah. Don't listen to that. The way to stop the option is to come from all sorts of angles.

The option is useful on short yardage plays, to open up the pass, and to hide your real goal. To lull someone into a trance state of running the ball, beating them to the outside, and then all of a sudden, your doing PA and the D is shifting into stop the Option, then your cut back and pass it deep down field.

So first of all, what types of Options are there?
1.)Triple Option- My base offense, its were the QB takes a one step drop, deciding to hand the ball off to the fullback whom is 2 yards behind the QB. In short Situations, the ball is handed off and the fullback rumbles and bumbles for 3-5 yards. If you hand it off the the fullback, truck, juke, spin, hurdle, do something, because 75% of the time, a LB is there to meet you in the 2 or 1 gap. If you don't hand the ball off, the QB will run parallel to the offensive line, the RB will be 5 yards away from the QB, i have noticed if he is any deeper, the QB will not pitch it because it is to risky.

There are other variations of this play also, like the Reverse Triple Option, Triple Option pass, and a lot of others.

2.)Power Option/Speed Option- Speed option is to the weak side, and power option is to the strong side. The fullback is a lead blocker to the 1 or 2 gap, and the HB will run parallel to the offensive line. These are faster devolving but result in bigger plays.

These are the two big option plays that you will see, but if your playing someone in the Florida Offense there will be special Jet plays. Which a WR comes in motion to be the pitch man, this is deadly because he will scoot alot quicker than your HB. BE CAREFUL on these plays, you will need to shade a DB when they send the WR in motion.

Now how to stop the option, is a task in its own. Pat white will get around corners, Bobby Reid will break tackles, and HB will receive the pitch. Always be looking for the amazing pitch that every QB seems to have. TEBOW is god at this.

They D that seems to have constant success is in the 4-6 Bear.

1.) 4-6 Bear, 2 Man Under
You need to Flip the play on the field or in play selection screen. Pinch the Line, and you can add in the Crash the line, Depends on you preference. Also pinch LBs and control your Deep Safty, but be ready to read pass, because your going to be in a Cover two, but really its Cover 1 Robber, with your MLB will be covering the other half, and he will never drop deep enough.

YOU MUST COVER THE PITCH MAN. The CPU never does a good job at covering the pitch man. You must do this, otherwise you will become OWNED at this. And if they become confident in there game, they will still pitch it, and then you will have to JACK THEM UP. Learn your Hitstick. Hit low will always stop them in there tracks.

Well thats it for now, Play hard, Hit the Prct. Mode, more tommorw from
