Madden 09: Wide Receiver Ratings

June 3, 2008 7:53 pm - Author: Shanker Srinivasan

Madden 09: Wide Receivers

Alright. We already know that bringing down the latest crop of running backs in Madden 09 is going to be a chore but how will your passing game fare this year?

A quick look through the Madden 09 ratings reveals that there is much greater variability among wide receiver skill levels than there were among running backs. Another thing that becomes quickly obvious is that the New England Patriots will still be a force in Madden 09. With Moss and Welker both boasting ridiculous ratings, expect the online Patriot lovefest to continue again this year.

Washington seems to have picked up two of the best wide receivers in this year's draft class to go with their veteran speedsters. Pittsburgh's Limas Sweed heads the class as the most NFL-ready wideout in an admittedly weak year for the position. Looks like it's time to shore up that run defense...

Check back in over the next few weeks as SportsGamer will be breaking down ratings for every position culminating with the release of the full Madden playbooks. Also be sure to stop by our forums and share your opinions on the wide receiver ratings or leave us specific requests and we'll try to get the answers!

Oh man.. I'm first! That's first time that ever happened!
Posted by: skw4712 on June 3, 2008, 8:03 pm
I really..don't wanna comment on anything (too much, too intimidating), but let's see..
Oh! Two Cardinals receiver's speed went up a lot!
Finally they are good to work with in Madden.
Again, TO is a beast in Madden

Well..my head is starting to get hurt, so..
Posted by: skw4712 on June 3, 2008, 8:04 pm
Holy crap!
Highest rating for rookie WR is 81 (Limas Sweed)?
(they were all 2nd Rd or lower, but still..)
Posted by: skw4712 on June 3, 2008, 8:08 pm
Patriots the cheaters are a-holes, but those WRs (98 Speed Moss and agile, 99 accerelation Welker) (and a athletic TE) and '99' arm strength, accuracy, 100 Awareness QB Tom Brady (which is pretty f-ing ridiculous), AND 90 OVR HB Laurence Maroney? Pats are the f-ing beast again in Madden.
Posted by: skw4712 on June 3, 2008, 8:09 pm
I bet there are more flaws than what I put, but that's all I can get now because of the number of receivers shown.
Posted by: Middle1 on June 3, 2008, 8:20 pm
I thought Steve Largent was faster than that. He was always open.
Posted by: MaKyredlineMa on June 3, 2008, 8:34 pm
Malcom Kelly a 92 speed? he ran a 4.7
Posted by: robertmcleod123 on June 3, 2008, 8:48 pm
Colts WRs ratings are decieving
no jump, or spec catch and little speed
GAY
Posted by: KrazyJvilleD on June 3, 2008, 9:44 pm
LOL HOW ON EARTH DOES DEVIN HESTER HAVE BETTER CATCH THAN EVERY SINGLE WR ON THE JAGS... i swear ea... do u know who the jags are?? please tell my how jerry porter's overall goes up 3 points, but NOTHING changes on any of his important stats, infact i dont see 1 thing different from the last update besides his overall... jags = shafted alot
Posted by: KrazyJvilleD on June 3, 2008, 9:48 pm
Wait i just realized something... pastapadre.com has different overalls for the jags WR's than this
Posted by: jeremyishere on June 3, 2008, 10:28 pm
How is Calvin Johnson a 92? What has he ever done besides being drafted really high?
Posted by: RAMSvsDAWORLD on June 3, 2008, 11:07 pm
Bennett is not hat slow he is a wide out not a te bull and his jump is higher too
Posted by: a8hill on June 3, 2008, 11:11 pm
Wheres tim brown and jerry rice under nfl greats
Posted by: mastarkz on June 4, 2008, 1:56 am
RICE IS IN 2K
Posted by: BigBoi17 on June 4, 2008, 8:04 am
I disagred wit the QB and RB ratings, but the WR ratings are on point to me. Calvin Johnson didn't have amazing numbers, but showed PLENTY of promise his first season. Devin Hester is a lil overrated, but can still be a VERY effective weapon, I thought Braylon's Catching should be better, like a 92. Other than that, the WR are all good with me. All you gonna see online is the Pats though lol
Posted by: titans1591 on June 4, 2008, 10:45 am
WHY THE HECK IS REGGIE WAYNE BETTER THAN MARVIN HARRISON AND WHAT IS GOING ON WITH DEVIN HESTER WHAT IS HE LIKE SUPER MAN
Posted by: titans1591 on June 4, 2008, 10:47 am
Yeah i know Devin Hester is fast but come on he is not the fastest player in the NFL
Posted by: G-Men72 on June 4, 2008, 12:41 pm
He definitely is the fastest player in the nfl. who would u say is faster
Posted by: BigBadDice_22 on June 4, 2008, 12:46 pm
Gotta say Im happy with everything on the Steelers WR ratings except Holmes catch rating.

Anthony Gonzalez only a 77...??? That is a little weak, especially considering Limas Sweed is an 81 and he is a rookie.
Posted by: jmitch100940 on June 4, 2008, 4:04 pm
Reggie wayne rated 97 he should be 99 and how does ted ginn have more acceleration than randy moss
Posted by: SamGriebs on June 4, 2008, 4:09 pm
Wow seriously the Colts got screwed, they have the best WR core in the NFL, no question. Pats put up the numbers but thats because Brady had all day. Marv, Reggie, Gonzo, Clark is not being touched by any other squad, I swear the Madden people are so bad at doing their rankings, Gonzo a 77 dude? seriously, thats so bad a rating I know by the first update he will break 80, frickin BS.
Posted by: 9ersfan4life on June 4, 2008, 4:34 pm
How is Darrel Jackson still an 86, did they watch
any 49ers games last year, and why is Jerry Rice
not in the NFL greats he was the best reciever
ever, hands down
Posted by: cj112 on June 4, 2008, 5:26 pm
I like the WR ratings
Posted by: robertmcleod123 on June 4, 2008, 5:43 pm
All the ratings for Anthony Gonzolez of INDY are the exact same as when he first came into the game last year.

Thats bull, and how does Reggie Wayne had the most yards last year he deserves a higher Spec Catch and Release rating
Posted by: patsfan4eva on June 4, 2008, 6:35 pm
Kinda seems like the eagles got unbelievably hosed after 2 of the best seasons in curtis's and browns career their ratings don't go up at all....

Calvin Johnson's a beast in every category. 6-5 with 96 speed =0

and Moss has kinda slow accleration for how fast he gets off the line and reaches full speed.

but can't really complain about to many of em. Anthony Gonzales should definetly be in the low 80's, Tedd Ginn should be 84 atleast considering what they gave Johnson.

I like most of the rookies ratings, but their bein kidna generous with Sweeds speed.

Can't neccesarily say its not due to bump harrisons overall, but his speed should be atleast 84.

Overal better then the Running Back ratings tho.

I guess Hester is the only player in the game with 99 or 100 speed. I think Ginn deserved it to tho.
Posted by: Pizzle34 on June 4, 2008, 10:51 pm
Wow,and i thought the Titan receivers sucked last year...Justin Gage SPC a 68???? looks like Chris Johnson gonna get alot of wr time.
Posted by: Pizzle34 on June 4, 2008, 10:52 pm
Jerry Rice is not there probably because of APF.
Posted by: MasterDebater on June 4, 2008, 11:25 pm
G-men72...michael bennett is the fastest player in the nfl, too bad hes a nobody.

donald driver should have a MUCH higher JMP rating, because he was an Olympic High Jumper in 1996

remember the monday night football game between the broncos and the packers? do you recall seeing James Jones FLY right by Champ Bailey? didn't look like 91 SPD to me.

If anyone chooses the Pats online, im backin out of the game because i choose not to play with noob homos.

EA must hate jacksonville.

Javon Walker is better than his rating.

EA SUCKS @ RATING FOOTBALL PLAYERS.
Posted by: Sniper_Wolf25 on June 5, 2008, 9:41 am
So, uh, does Earl Bennett really deserve to be rated higher than all three titans WRs? i mean, i know they suck, but they're better than rookies...
Posted by: DaCowboys18 on June 5, 2008, 10:05 am
No way vincent jackson should be an 89
Posted by: superdynamite on June 5, 2008, 3:04 pm
Steve Smith on the New York GIANTS has an 80 rating???? LOL

He was the best WR on the field in every game he played. 100 awareness on every play.
Posted by: xiz343 on June 5, 2008, 5:36 pm
Stop looking at overall, its always messed up, look at the real ratings, steve smith stats are perfect. All seems fair to me.
Posted by: 9ersfan4life on June 5, 2008, 9:02 pm
I agree with dynamite NY Steve smith deserves at
least an 85 overall he was a hell lot better than
Toomer was
Posted by: BigBoi17 on June 6, 2008, 4:26 pm
Vincent Jackson an 89.... I wish someone could the expression on my face right now(it ain't happy). All Jackson is good for is jump balls. He should be A LOT slower than Chambers WTF!!! Spc and cit is too high for him... Ima put it this way, he's tall and can jump...that's it
Posted by: texanfan90 on June 6, 2008, 5:12 pm
Wow kevin walter a 79...after wes welker had a 687 rec yards and one touchdown season with the dolphins he was rated a 83...walter had 800 rec yards season with 4 tds and he's only a 79 he should an 84 or 85
Posted by: LIL_SKIP_24 on June 6, 2008, 5:26 pm
MasterDebator

you realize Champ Bailey wasnt 100%

he had a hamstring injury and sat out the game before, and siting out a game is rare for Champ.
Posted by: LIL_SKIP_24 on June 6, 2008, 5:31 pm
Yeah and texansfan i agree with you, i think texans got scammed, Walter should be mid 80's and Davis should be an 80... and why is Andre Davis Spec Catch so low, he had some unreal grabs
Posted by: Waynie-Check on June 6, 2008, 6:04 pm
All time greats, umm, Jerry Rice!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: skw4712 on June 7, 2008, 6:33 am
Terrell Owens CIT (Catch In Traffic) 97..
Are you kidding me? He's a pussy!
He rarely tries to catch in the middle
Posted by: SonOfWashington on June 7, 2008, 8:53 am
One can only wonder where the all-time greatest wide receiver is...

Jerry Rice?
Posted by: kackle85 on June 8, 2008, 1:19 pm
Marvin harrison got screwed! he has made some of the best catches of all time and his special catch is an 84! you gotta be effin kidding me.
Posted by: sg_Stoob0621 on June 9, 2008, 4:18 am
How come Roscoe Parrish's overall rating is only a 78? he made better plays than Lee Evans last season and is probably one of the best wide receivers to play special teams as well...
Posted by: DieHardBronco on June 9, 2008, 12:35 pm
Master Debater=Master Queer, and I love Brandon Marshall's overall, gonna be makin some plays this madden

Posted by: SerbianWolf on June 9, 2008, 6:23 pm
To be honest, I prefer a balanced receiving core to one or two amazing guys. The teams with the most depth are usually my favorite because you can't focus on one guy.
Posted by: -904-Falconfish on June 9, 2008, 11:24 pm
Why do jags always get shafted : (
Posted by: jwzy13 on June 10, 2008, 8:55 am
T.O. catching at 89? he is always leading the league in dropped passes and brandon jones and justin gage are both better than a 78 rating
Posted by: Merciless704 on June 10, 2008, 4:05 pm
DEVIN HESTER IS NOT FASTER THAN STEVE SMITH OR TED GINN!!!!

Who writes this crap!
Posted by: Cardo_s on June 11, 2008, 12:22 am
Hines ward should have bare minimun(84-on all madden) for spc catching rating he makes spectacular catches all over the field but doesnt get credit...also santonio holmes wasnt touched all yr in the catching and CIT department after a very good yr if wasnt for missing 3 games due to injury he would 1000yrds 10 tds..he still finsihed with 942yrd and 8tds his cth and cit should have definitly improved since not being touched at ll last yr...
Posted by: Fins1399 on June 11, 2008, 7:42 am
I thought Paul Warfield was a shoe -in for a rank of 99 but 98 is still good.
Posted by: Playboi2778 on June 11, 2008, 4:51 pm
Where is Rice for the all-time greats
Posted by: GrandKing28 on June 13, 2008, 9:18 pm
Ok so why is Calvin Johnson overall a 92, when Anthony Gonzales had a way better year, I'm mad that Santonio Holmes is only a 85 when the amount of catches and yards have went up from is rookie year and CJ is still higher EA has people making a game that dose not watch football or no anything about football.. Sad...
Posted by: GrandKing28 on June 13, 2008, 9:24 pm
I just notice how is Dwayne Bowl lower then Calvin Johnson and he had the best year out off all the Wr taken in the draft last year?????
Posted by: bvlynx26 on June 14, 2008, 10:13 am
Ok, how are devin hester and Earl Bennet better then Sidney Rice? Sidney had at least four catches that made the top ten plays of the week. Hester is lucky if he had four cathces and Earl is a rookie. And wtf?! How is Calvin Johnson a 92?! if your going to make Calvin a 92 then Bernard Berrian should be at least a 95. I'm not saying he deserves that much but Bernard is definately better then a 85. And Sidney deserves at least an 84, he looked amazing last year. Vikings got shafted big time, any NFC north fans out there.
Posted by: Crocosaur on June 14, 2008, 12:06 pm
GrandKing28 - You forgot that Calvin Johnson was playing much of the year with a bad back. If he was healthy, he would've had a better season than Bowe and Gonzalex COMBINED. He might've given Adrian Peterson a run for his money for Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Now that he's healthy and with a year of experience, we'll see the REAL Calvin Johnson come out...with he, Williams and Furrey lining up wide, the Lions have one of the most underrated receiving corps in the NFL. If only they had something that could pass for an offensive line...
Posted by: DieHardBronco on June 14, 2008, 1:21 pm
How is Brandon Stoakly only 84, he is so underated its unbeleivable, if you see this guy play, he is unbeleivable
Posted by: DieHardBronco on June 14, 2008, 1:24 pm
How does T.0. have 97 Catch in traffic???
thats the most fucked up thing i have ever seen
Posted by: NOSaints94 on June 15, 2008, 6:26 pm
There is no way brandon marshall is close to marques colston
Posted by: Heavenly007 on June 16, 2008, 8:27 am
Holy Crap!!!!

Justin Gage a 78 Overall?

What the Mess... He's a heck of a lot better that that he should be a 85- 88 overall
Posted by: bvlynx26 on June 16, 2008, 4:04 pm
Crocosaur, no, just no. A "bad back" isn't any kind of excuse at all. AP missed two games with injury, Calvin wouldn't have given him a run for anything. And until he proves he's a premier receiver he doesn't deserve a 92. Maybe he is that good but he hasn't proved anything yet. 48 catches and 4 touchdowns isn't deserving of a 92 rating.
Posted by: str8himalaya on June 16, 2008, 10:32 pm
A couple impressions...First, colts got screwed, except wayne. They finally gave him a spped that is workable. Harrison missed most of the year so why did he go down so much? Still the best wideout on the colts (no offense to wayne). Gonzalez the same rating? Um...did he not fill in for a first ballot hall of famer, and have a pretty productive year? Wow, just wow, which brings me to my next point...How in the hell is devin hester a 81 WR? More like a 71, with insane speed. He cannot play wr, he won't do anything in that position, and yet he is an 81? Better than gonzalez? No. For the most part...overall ratings look alright, but some of the specifics are a little jacked up...97 Catch in traffic for T.O.? He can't catch wide open, little lone in traffic.
Posted by: favresnumba1 on June 17, 2008, 5:05 am
Geg jenning....97 speed?
Posted by: WarrenMoon1 on June 17, 2008, 7:06 pm
How does eddie royal get 97 speed at 4.40... and chris johnson gets a 97 and he ran 4.24? LenDale rushed for over 1100 yds. and he gets a rating lower than Marshawn Lynch... LenDale's speed is more like 88 than 86... Justin Gage should look like 85 ovrl, 86 cth, 74 awr, 90-91 speed, and 94 jump. he's their most improved WR
Posted by: WarrenMoon1 on June 17, 2008, 7:12 pm
Why are you guys screwing cortland finnegan? he ran a 4.31, and his speed is 92? C'mon how do you think the Titans can start sub 6'0 corners and be able to compete... use your brains... 4.31 probably translates to 96 or 97... especially if eddie royal of all players gets a 97. so you're saying cortland finnegan can't run with eddie royal? Hmm... E.D. =4.40=97... C.F.=4.31=92 Do the math man!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: Cardo_s on June 18, 2008, 12:49 pm
How does T.0. have 97 Catch in traffic???
thats the most fucked up thing i have ever seen-EXACTLY
Posted by: koolboi352 on June 18, 2008, 2:16 pm
Hester overall is 2 high he doesnt do nothin but returns and they need 2 bring his speed down from 100 and his catch rating should be in the low 70's cuz all he can do is streaks.
Posted by: alfred_18 on June 19, 2008, 2:19 am
Brandon Marshall should have 99 in exclusive he broke alot of tackles he's a beast you at least need 2 ppl to bring him down. Broncos are the fucking best. Brandon Stokley should at least be rated much higher
Posted by: champofchamps on June 19, 2008, 7:58 pm
Ok happy that they are recognizing Jennings as a star and only two things to say first off why did driver drop and secondly james jones should have higher possesion and route running cuz he had so many 3rd down cathes and the whole packers offense is about short perfectly timed routes
Posted by: ValorGideon on June 20, 2008, 12:38 pm
Geaze all these rookies are going to be jump ball experts
Posted by: kortneyd52 on June 22, 2008, 5:53 pm
BROWNS BABY braylon donte K2 and cribbs second best returner GO BROWNS!!!
Posted by: Cardo_s on June 22, 2008, 10:55 pm
ANOTHER THING santonio holmes led wrs who had more than 50 catches in the nfl with an 18.1 reception avg. his speed should at least go up a couple points not to mention is CATCH and CIT ratings should also be raised
Posted by: goodwinb51 on June 23, 2008, 12:13 pm
All of you idiots who say t.o. is overrated are stupid the middle is where most of his catches were made the only reason you say that he is overrated is because you seen all of his highlights on deep down the side in the end zone catches now what can you say about that
Posted by: StillersPete on June 23, 2008, 5:25 pm
Limas sweed is definitley the best rookie wide out, that was a good move by EA
Posted by: StillersPete on June 23, 2008, 5:29 pm
T.O. is not overrated, he is one of the best wide recievers in the nfl, he is fast makes one handed catches, scores touchdowns and puts up monster stats no matter what quarterback he has, jeff garcia, donovan mcnabb, or tony romo, that is the sign of a great wide reciever. Randy moss was only bad in oakland because he did so on purpose, not that he didn't have the talent.

Posted by: StillersPete on June 23, 2008, 5:31 pm
Santonio holmes is way better than an 85!, he should be either a quick receiver or hands, either one.
Posted by: StillersPete on June 23, 2008, 5:31 pm
Of course, his speed is correct
Posted by: StillersPete on June 23, 2008, 5:32 pm
What i don't understand is why reggie wayne is so slow, same with marvin, you have to be a 94+ to be considered fast and reggie wayne beats guys deep all the time.
Posted by: StillersPete on June 23, 2008, 5:39 pm
Ratings shouldn't be based on the amount of numbers someone has. thats what all you guys don't get. ratings are based on how the players play when they get the ball. for a running back, your way works, but for a wide receiver, it doesn't. For example,
calvin johnson is a 92 because his 48 or whatever catches, were spectacular. he would jump on top of giant's cornerbacks to get the ball. the fact of it is, he didn't put up monster stats last year, but he has the obvious potential to do so. Put it this way, if calvin caught as many catches as randy moss, he would have had had 1,548 yrds. and eight touchdowns. with those stats you would all be like he is so underrated! blah blah blah, so shut up about your damn ratings.

Posted by: StillersPete on June 23, 2008, 5:44 pm
T.O. is 97 catch in traffic because 95% of his catches are in the middle of the field you idiot. obviously your not a football fan because you don't watch T.O. play. I do and i'm a steelers fan. i'm talking to you Skw.
Posted by: Dcooksey on June 23, 2008, 8:59 pm
Its about time someone else sees that Devin Hester is not the fastest person in the pros. He is still in the top 10 ,but compared to men who should have got 100 like primetime, randy moss on the vikings , mike vick coming into the pros & recently ted ginn.He is ahead of ginn by two whole points. You better be able to feel that 100 speed ya digg. Instead of being caught by people much slower than you.
Posted by: StillersPete on June 24, 2008, 7:26 am
Devin hester has 100 speed because there is no other way to make him as good as he is. he is so good, that they can't represent it on madden, so the 100 speed is the only way to do it. the only other way you could make him that explosive is if you give him 100 spd. 100 elusiveness, and 100 agility. But if you did that, it would be stupid.
Posted by: StillersPete on June 24, 2008, 7:29 am
It would be stupid because people would line him up as the 5th wide out on a depth chart, audible to a running play on a 5wr empty back set and have devin hester be your running back. I'm sure people will still do that, but with those crazy ratings that are better than LT, you would be beast. Thats why its stupid to give him all the ratings i said. so i repeat your right in that devin hester shouldn't have 100 spd. he is too good for it.
Posted by: sasa90444 on June 24, 2008, 11:20 am
Dennis northcutt should be 96 speed
Posted by: Dcooksey on June 24, 2008, 10:54 pm
Man if they wont to give devin hester high rating then make the special teams more realistic instead of you being caught by much slower people. Needs improved blocking and explosion when you catch the ball.
Posted by: sf49ers2180 on June 27, 2008, 10:18 am
Is ea every gonna have a realistic speed rating, they should take the 40 time and translate that in to speed ie someone runs a 4.2=95-100, 4.3=90-95 ect.
Posted by: sf49ers2180 on June 27, 2008, 10:22 am
And why the hell is jerry rice not on the all time greats he has the most recieving yards ever the most receptions and recieving TD he should have 100 awr 100 cth 100 spc and 100 cit he is still the greatest!!!!!!!!
Posted by: sf49ers2180 on June 28, 2008, 9:57 pm
Donte` stallworth ran a 4.22 40yrd dsh yet he has 98 spd rating 98 acc, whereas ted ginn jr. ran a 4.38 or something in that area and was given 98 spd, and 99 acc-whats with that!
Posted by: xraidernationx on July 2, 2008, 11:53 am
Javon walker is a good spectacular catcher he should have 94-97 spc
Posted by: xraidernationx on July 2, 2008, 12:09 pm
Wtf javon walker only a 87 he was over 90 last year and he made a lot of unbelievable grabs spc should go up...he should be rated over brandon marshall
Posted by: kortneyd52 on July 3, 2008, 8:12 am
BRAYLON EDWARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: sf49ers2180 on July 7, 2008, 2:06 pm
Chad johnson once again has an above 95 ovr rating, they should put in a sportsmanship rating, he would deffinately have the lowest rating on that, followed by TO who is 98 ovr again, the cowboys are a bunch of over rated rich bastards!
Posted by: sf49ers2180 on July 10, 2008, 9:39 pm
The redskins drafted 2 wrs with 80 ovr wtf, why didnt the 9ers take one ofem
Posted by: Hellraza316 on July 11, 2008, 2:28 am
Don't you have to be in the HOF to be on the all time great list and be put in madden. That's my theory of why Rice isn't there. Also, if Bob Hayes ever makes the HOF (which he deserves) EA better give him that 100 speed rating and tell Hester to go fuck himself. Hester is not the fastest person in the NFL.

I'm trying to figure out why T.O, isn't a spec catch wide receiver. He makes great catches(when he holds onto the ball) and is an overall great receiver. Some shitty players on there have that rating. Oh well, EA still sucks at rating people.
Posted by: Jkokotek55 on July 11, 2008, 9:07 pm
Why is everyone here saying that Hester shouldn't be so fast. There is no doubt that he's the fastest guy in the NFL.
Posted by: littlehammer on July 14, 2008, 9:42 am
WTF!!! Randy Moss with a better Jump rating than Larry Fitzgerald. And Braylon Edwards too! Fuck you EA, you yet again fail at what you do!

Calvin Johnson a 92? Bowe a 90..?? This is an outrage. Bowe had one of the best rookie seasons a WR has ever had, and his quaterback was Brodie Croyle. Calvin Johnson hasnt done much yet. Madden is really ruining there reputation this year, in my book.

Calvin Johnson got a 92 because he racked up 48 for 756 and 4 td's. Thats a 15.8 avg and he was hurt for half the season. Now Anthony Gonzales had 37 for 576 and 3 td's, not bad for #3 receiver and i do agree that he should be higher, just saying Calvin deserves his 92, and he will prove it this year. Dwayne Bowe being a 90 i have no problem with because he was good last year, but he was the #1 receiver and only manged 900+ yards. So 90 is fair. You have to look at the situation of not just how many yards they got, but at how they got them and how much they played. If a receiver rack up 800+ yards in only 10 games, and another only rack up 980 in 16, who do you think deserves the higher rating? It should be the only who got 800+ in only ten games.

And lesson people, the reason Jerry Rice isnt in the game is because of him allowing All-Pro Football 2k8 to use his likeness. Because of that, they can't use him in Madden 09.

Tere is no way there are 8 better wide outs there braylon edwards the only players that recivers that are better than him are terrell owens randy moss and maybe steve smith and larry fitzgerald braylon should be at least a 97 he had 17 TDs and about 1400 yds last year hi catching should be in the 90s.

plaxico burress, reggie wayne, andre jhonson, chad jhonson, lee evans, t.j. houshmandzadeh, and anquan boldin all are over rated.

Alright I notice nobody talking about the release till this day I want to Know what it mean. I mean It's there but you never notice the difference between lets say Steve Smith off the line vs Reggie Wayne(its an example people). people like Steve Smith(99 release)should rarely get touch off the line when in press coverage and thats when Safety's would come into the mix. Madden has ways to go before they become a Great Football game but I need my yearly dose of Pro Football so I'll get this anyways.

I think it would be much more realistic if Corner Backs would back up off the line for Wide outs with great speed and high release, and another note I hope this year they fix the problem where Lb's played man on Wide outs like CB and are able to run down the field with them on streaks, like wise for Safety's they shouldn't be able to play man good and it showed show in the game

I can go on and on about how many errors there were in the madden ratings... how does wes welker get the same overall as tory holt... thats just insane.. i understand he had some real good numbers but that was as a slot reciever... he will still be the slot reciever this year for the pats because he can not play as a first or second... acc 99... are u serious... there are over 20 recievers better then welker in the nfl..
Posted by: emoneybk300 on August 4, 2008, 5:29 pm
I had to return... im so disappointed wit these ratings... wes welker stood out by far the most... he deserves a 90... but they have him as good as marvin harrison...

I feel bad now. I just started watchin' football since last season & chose the Patriots as my favorite team since Tom Brady was on an Episode of Family Guy. I feel like I have to tell everyone this or they'll just think I'm hopping on the 18-1 bandwagon.
