Last week was a very busy week at the site with the release of NCAA Football 09. With all the buzz surrounding NCAA '09, you'd think E3 didn't even occur. Well if you missed it, this week's Community 411 can recap what happened in the sports gaming world at E3.  Don't forget if you have something you'd like to announce and want me to include, send me a private message or email me at fred@sportsgamer.com  We'll mention league updates, community articles, etc...Just contact me.

E3 Sports Gaming Recap:

This past week was E3. There was plenty of information on the upcoming sports titles coming out of the yearly conference. So what did we find out?

There was plenty to get excited about if you are into basketball games. NBA Live and NBA 2K were featured. First, EA Sports announced a new Dynamic DNA feature for NBA Live 09. What exactly is this new feature? Here is a snippet from the E3 NBA Live impressions:
Unveiled today during the EA Sports segment of today's EA press conference, the Dynamic DNA feature (as it's known) looks to accurately gauge the way players and teams change throughout the season. Based off of technology from Synergy Sports, a premiere sports analytics company, the Dynamic DNA feature will download new player data daily across a number of different player tendencies: isolation, pick-and-roll ball handler, pick-and-roll roll man, post up, spot man, off-ball screen, and cuts, as well as such tendencies as how often the player moves left or right when facing off with a defender.
You can read the full preview and find out what else EA Sports has in store for gamers, here.

If you aren't an NBA Live fan, 2K Sports had NBA 2K at E3 as well. Not much came out of the presentation. In fact, nothing was really mentioned as far as features. SportsGamer did get a chance to see gameplay for the first time.

The first thing that was apparent from the clip (and, to a lesser extent, the gameplay demonstration) was that signature player motions don't just stop at shooting this year. Player-specific celebrations and motions will also make their appearance in NBA 2K9.
Continue reading the E3: 2008 NBA 2K9 First Look. Strangely, the big news for NBA 2K9 didn't come out until the day after. 2K Sports announced the feature list for NBA 2K9. 2K also implemented a feature similar to the Dynamic DNA Feature NBA Live has. This years title will also include online team play, another NBA Live feature. Either way, looks like fans of both games are in a for a treat this year.

If basketball games aren't really you're cup of tea, you can find previews for the following titles:

What's Hot in the Community?

NCAA Football 09:

After a week hiatus for E3, From the Bleachers podcast will be back this week! If you haven't chimed in yet on the weekly community question concerning Brett Favre, there is still time. Visit the community question thread and leave your response.

The SportsGamer NCAA Football section is still very busy. If you haven't visited our NCAA Football Stadium Sounds forum be sure to. You can find stadium sounds that members have been posting. And if you aren't sure how to create your own you can find the tutorial to create your own.

Some people have been having some problems with the EA Sports World website. Forum member ruff_edgz created a tutorial to help you post your videos and screens.

Pasta Vs. Fred Sports Game Challenge:

What is the Pasta Vs. Fred Sports Game Challenge? Well Pastapadre and I go back a long way. Since the MaddenNation days. One of things we've done the past 4 years or so is had some great games online in all sports titles that have come out. From Madden to FIFA, you name it, we've played it against each other. Some games have come down to the wire and some have been blown outs. For the next handful of sports titles being released, Pasta and I will face off in a 7 game series of the following sports titles:

  • NCAA Football 09
  • Madden NFL 09
  • FIFA 09
  • NBA Live 09
  • NBA 2K9

I currently hold a 2-0 lead in the series. You can find out all the information as well as vote for our next matchup here.

Non-Sports Game Related Discussion:

One of the most anticipated movies of the summer was released this past weekend. The dicussion going on in the forums on this movie has been huge. Our official Dark Knight discussion thread has reached 21 pages and counting.  Do you think Heath Ledger should win an Oscar for his performance of the Joker? Was he better than Jack Nicholson? Vote in our poll in our Heath Ledger Oscar Performance thread.

In our Arcade Forum section we've been discussing E3. Visit our Official E3 thread and share your opinions on the game.
