Using motion in the running game can completely change the way you run the football. Furthermore, almost no one knows how to defend against constant motion in the running game because it's something that you really can't practice. Most people practice stopping certain runs in the game, but if you're able to add a twist to every one of your running plays by using motion it can be very difficult to stop.

The FB Dive is one running play that certainly does need motion to be successful. However, if you're able to take a solid running play and add motion to the mix it can often be deadly for opponents. | Our goal on this play is to call for hike just as Ward gets in front of our fullback. The reason we want to snap the ball at this point in his motion is to allow him to act as a lead blocker for the runner. |

| As soon as Ward passes behind the quarterback we snap the ball and begin the play. |

| Ward turns directly upfield as our fullback prepares to receive the handoff. |
