NCAA Basketball 09: Top-25 Freshmen

November 12, 2008 6:42 pm - Author: Shanker Srinivasan

The nation's elite programs don't simply make waves in the tournament; they also constantly recruit the best talent from around the nation and, nowadays, the world to ensure the program's success in the years to follow. The Associated Press, USA Today, and even Blue Ribbon released rankings of the top 25 college basketball teams this year but most, with exception to Notre Dame, are simply the usual suspects. A more telling story may be climate of future talent skewed to certain powerhouses.

UCLA, for instance, scooped up three of the top eight high school prospects in the country almost ensuring their spot in the final four for years to come. Share your thoughts on the nation's top-25 prospects (according to NCAA Basketball 09) and let us know if any gems fell under the Blue Ribbon radar.

As several others have pointed out, Robbie Hummel is not a Freshman, he is a sophomore.

Also I love how there 12 players rated higher than him despite the fact that he was voted as the preseason Big 10 player of the year. Also, all those highly rated freshmen apparently didn't help UCLA against Michigan last night.
