Elden Ring has been long awaited and massively hyped in the last year. All the reviews are giving it a 10 and many are saying it is the best game ever made. Don't believe it this game is terrible, not even worthy of the bargain bin.
Elden ring is set in the Lord of the Rings universe and apparently GRR Martin helped write the game. It is supposed to be a follow on but open world version of the equally bad Dark Souls. In essence the game is a really bad console port. This is apparent right from the options menu - setting up the game controls for keyboard and mouse is a nightmare (the game is clearly meant to be played with a controller).
Getting into the game the character creation options are really poor. The graphics (whilst detailed) look very old - more like a PS4 game rather than the standard of graphics available these days.
As for gameplay the character walks around at right angles. There is no real story, and your character doesn't talk. The game is just travelling from place to place and fighting. Ive seen mobs such as wolves not even walk along the ground but fly through the air to reach you - it is so amateurish and poorly programmed. Combat is cumbersome and it's hard to target an enemy without looking the wrong way. The game is very difficult - enemies jump out from you and you die on almost every encounter even with passing wildlife - to play this game you need the patience of a saint. But it is the high difficulty level that makes people like this title. However constantly dying repeatedly where one bad click can lead to you dying isn't my sort of game.
The game is also quite buggy, perfomance on PC is wdely reported to be bad and there have been quite a few patches since the game released 2 weeks ago.
