After finishing 3, i couldn't wait for the next game. And I was so glad when New Vegas came out. While the layout and story differed a bit. At it's core, this was the same fallout I had loved. The combat was great, the map was vast with much to explore and loot. And, this game made melee OP, which I really enjoyed. Being out on the west coast wast different, but interesting to see how the war affected the area out there. And gave Bethesda a chance to experiment with brand new factions, out side of the ones we already knew. New Vegas was just as great of a game as 3!
