Dorney was my personal hero and will be sorely missed ...

I'd have to say what I'll probably miss the most is the drunk slurring of his words throughout the Flyers games. Tracking his incoherent babble from the 1st period to the 3rd was one of my hobbies. If I made a chart of what the typical gameday banter would be like it would probably resemble this:

1st Period - (Average Street Bum Slurring)
"Welll, the keyy to the gameee is goaltenddingggg. Escheee is in netttt tonighttt, let's seeee what he's made offfff ..."

2nd Period - (Drunken Pirate/Bear Slurring)
"Arrrrrgh, Gagneee has his wheels tonight my frienddsss. Grrrrrrrr"

3rd Period - (Complete Retarded Bill Cosby Incoherent Slurring)
"Hockkey is myyy ... (PAUSE) ... sometimeess picklesss are soggyy ... (PAUSE) ... Recchi and the flism flosm in the puddinggg ... pancakes."

Going back to that 3rd period garble, did anyone else notice that it was a given last year that during every game (sometime around mid-3rd period when he'd have his nice Scotch buzz on) he'd make note of how well Mark Recchi has played in the game that night. This was extremely funny to me because not only has Recchi not played for the Flyers since the 2003-2004 season but there was no one on the roster with the #8 (which Recchs wore). It's like he was living in his own little hockey world and he happened to be stuck in 2001. How can you not love that?

His "STOP IT RIGHT THERRRRRE" signature call, puffy, red face during the post game show and drunken teleprompter circles (which would be a good 4" off the actual play and resemble more of a pentagon) will be forever remembered.

God speed Dorney.
