Pasta Padre's Rookie Challenge
If you'd like to follow along I'll be doing a Superstar type rundown for my Rookie Challenge Pasta Padre in The Bigs. It'll also include general impressions of the game and such. I'll be capturing screens and video for it so I think it'll should be relatively fun to follow along with.

Looks good, I'm keeping an eye on this. Too bad my Blockbuster didn't have the game in today for me to rent.
Do you like it Pasta? |

Re: Pasta Padre's Rookie Challenge
Yeah I would hesitate to say too much after only playing one game, but I have followed along with the reviews and the impressions over on OS and it seems to really be surprising people.
I was just talking with a buddy of mine about the game, and I was telling him how it has more sim elements than people would expect. Like I mention in that writeup, I saw more hit variety and foul balls in one 5 inning game than I saw in any 9 inning games of MLB 2K7 lol. It has a little bit of an MVP baseball feel to it, although obviously the elements are exaggerated. The 2-1 score encouraged me as it was on medium (default) and I didn't find it too easy. Of course I'm still learning the game and so once I get used to it I'll probably have to go up to the next level but it didn't play like Slugfest in that regard from my short experience with it. I also enjoyed the swiftness of it. I think I completed that game in about 20 minutes. Thats not something I would want in a simulation game, but my patience runs tends to run thin on other types of games so this is a plus to me. I think if people went into it having an open mind most would like it. I know there are people out there who don't enjoy "arcade" type games and thats cool, nothing wrong with that. But on pure fun factor, The Bigs may end up being a title that really fills a gap for me that I haven't had much of for a long time. I haven't even played online yet either and that looks like it has a lot of potential as well. Last edited by pastapadre : 06-29-2007 at 09:58 PM. |

One thing I don't like about this game is that you have to swing so damn early.
