Re: League Questions, Comments, Discussion...

If we don't get enough people leading up to the release date, will we just start with whoever we have or extend the start time and recruit more people?

Re: League Questions, Comments, Discussion...

That's something I'm still kind of debating. I remember counting about 20 people or so that showed interest in the other thread that I put up. I'd like to be around 16 teams or so, but I'm not stuck on a number just yet and its something I'm going to play by ear. If we don't have enough by the release then I'll likely let it go a few days longer cause I imagine that there will be more interest once the game actually releases. But we won't be waiting forever.

Re: League Questions, Comments, Discussion...

I know I have suggested helping out although I doubt I will be unable to participate due to living in the sticks and being stuck with Hughes Net satellite internet. Here are a few topics that are always up for discussion in leagues:

1. Realistic amount of steals per game.

2. Realistic amount of pitchouts per AB

3. Number of hit and runs per game.

4. Last years show there was a cheesy tactic with pitchouts and a quick throw down to 1B by the catcher which would result in an automatic out due to the lack of responsive for the player to retreat.

5. Number of balls vs. strikes.

6. Pitching rotations. (07 would have to warm up a pitcher then bring him in because by default online it would always be the #1 Starting pitcher)

7. Use of bullpen. Again realistic amount of innings/pitched not being able to use the same guy in a 3 game series although the game before he came in and pitched 4+ innings. In real life that guy would be on the shelf for at least two games.

8. Use of power swing. I dont see this being a problem, if guys want to commit to the lack of check swings and power up when they should be protecting that is their deal. However some see this as a cheap tactic with the lower hitters in your lineup.

9. Squeeze bunts and bunting in general. Again last year there was only two pauses or manager timeouts per inning thus limiting defensive alignments.

Those are a few major that come up from time to time in league, thought I would gauge some interest in what those that are signing up think. I really wish I could be in this league, but only being able to commit once a week if went over to a buddies house kind of limits availability. DNEUM Im always here to help though. Lets get some discussion going on these issues fellas.

Anyone who likes this game without a DS controller, will love it with a DS controller. Guaranteed.

1-2) These are definitely things we can take a look at once we get the game in our hands to see if this is something that will need to be addressed.

3) Care to elaborate a little bit on this one?

4) Again, something that will need to be looked at once we get the game. Definitely if there is something that seems to be a problem, we'll come up with some way to address it.

5) This is something I don't want to restrict too much, if at all. I think each person should have the ability to pitch how they want (while be realistic about it of course). If people are swinging at balls that's they're own problem. If a guy is throwing nothing but balls, he'll pay for it if the batter is patient and isn't swinging at bad pitches.

6-7) I didn't play The Show last year so I'm not sure how there online setup works. I thought I read somewhere that they'll have an online league setup. Maybe someone could verify for me here? But at the very least hopefully they allow you to choose your starter and don't default it to the #1 and we'll be ok. I think we'll likely go with just a 4-man rotation and there will definitely be rule in place to govern the use of the bullpen.

8) Don't see a problem with this. Hell in the demo I can't for the life of me get a HR with the power swing, all of my HR's have come off of contact swings lol.

9) Not sure about this one, can definitely take a look at it once the game comes out.

But I would love to hear everyone else's comments on these areas that Hustlin brought up.

Re: League Questions, Comments, Discussion...

DNEUM, the hit & run issue is usually a decently sized one in online leagues. It really does give an unfair advantage to the offense if you're constantly doing hit & runs. They don't happen every time a guy is on base in real life, yet people online will utilize it every single time. It starts to affect scores, IMO.

Re: League Questions, Comments, Discussion...

I think once we get our hands on the game, and get 10-20 games in, we will be able to tell where the soft spots will be. I have only hit homers using the power swing. I think I've hit 2 in 5 demo games, so doesn't seem "too easy". Hit and run and silly substitutions (speedy CF to 2b, people playing positions that they never play during the regular season type stuff) are the things that concern me.

Re: League Questions, Comments, Discussion...

I want to know if they'll allow custom rosters online like MVP 05 did. That made leagues awesome.
