November 19th, 2006 Murray State Racers (1-2) @ Southern Illinois Salukis (0-0) OFF AND RUNNING![]() Jamaal Taum led the way in the Salukis season opener In front of a packed house at SIU Arena the Salukis played host to the Murray State Racers. Jamaal Tatum led the Salukis with 16 points and Senior transfer Kobby Acquah gave the Salukis a boost off the bench with 12 boards and 4 blocked shots. The Racers jumped out in front early building a 14-4 advantage behind the games leading scorer Dwayne Paul (18 pts.). The Salukis chipped away the rest of the first half before Tatum hit a 3 pointer to give the Salukis their first lead at 23-22. Randal Falkner's last second buzzer beating layup moved the Salukis to a 25-22 halftime advantage. The game see-sawed throughout the second half with the Salukis building the games biggest advantage a 7 point lead with just about a minute to play. A last second three pointer by the Racers made the final score a bit closer. The Salukis will now head to Florida to face the Arkansas Razorbacks in the opening round of the Old Spice Classic. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
