[ALL] - Fight Night Round 4 --- IDEAS ---

This thread is for us to talk about all the ideas people have for fight night round 4 (kind of like a wish list). I have been reading some threads and have seen many excellent ideas, so lets put them all into one thread.

I already have posted my ideas on the forums ( IGN Boards ) about a year ago but im going to do it again i hope i do not bother you guys about it, but i think its a really good idea. They need to add my idea to Fight Night Round 4 and they better credit me =]


For all you wondering what the RANDOM EFFECT is, ill tell you. This is MY IDEA, I emailed my idea to KUDO about a month ago ( October of 2005 ), he never responded. But in this chat you see that he told me he is not allowed to respond to IDEA emails, so since I got my idea thru to him, which is the RANDOM EFFECT, I'm going to share my idea with all you guys, and remember where you FIRST READ this from.

Idea #1:The Random Effect

The Random Effect: Hey Kudo, my name is Jonathan Toma, I'm from the FNBC league( not anymore ), I came up with an idea which I think is really good, so I wanted to share this with you. You will be the first person to hear my idea. Ok... here we go, the name of my idea is called the "Random Effect", now how this works is... Lets say you are getting a big beating, your opponent knows your about to go down so he throws a IMPACT PUNCH, and since you are so messed up, you end up in the RANDOM EFFECT. Now when you are in the "Random Effect" your button configuration will switch up and be random. Now what I mean by this is, your blocking button will change to something else on the configuration, and your movement will also change, so say you want to move BACK from the guy to get your life back, your BACK button will now be changed to UP or Left or Right it will be random, and this goes for all the buttons so same with if you want to move LEFT or RIGHT, LEFT could be switched to Up or Down or Right. Now this also goes for if your trying to throw punches or anything while in the "Random Effect", your jabs could be switched to your hooks or uppercuts, again you will have to find out what the buttons are. Now to get out of this, it will work same as the First Person Mode, all you have to do is parry 1 time properly and you will get out of it, but remember your blocking has switched up, so if you try to parry left it could be right you have to remember that. Idea #2:Face swellings and cuts

Face swellings and cuts, its very sad to see there is no swelling at all for fight night round 3 on the xbox360. Sometimes you will see some fighters eyes close or look like its about to close but it opens back up like nothing ever happpened. They need to make it so that its permanent unless the cutman is excellent and can fix the swelling then thats a different story. Whatever side the fighters eye is closed on, it should be much harder to block because you might not see everything thats coming from that side. Cuts need to be way more realistic and there should be way more cut spots, they only have like 4 or 5 and thats just sad. I can not stress on how swelling has to be in the game because thats what happens in boxing if you get hit to many times on one side. Blood should drip off the players face if its bleeding badly and it should go on the other persons body, trunks or gloves same with the fighter who is bleeding for a more realistic feel.

Idea #3:Parry

Parry should be taken out of the game period, no fighter ever drops his guard down after throwing a punch and having it block thats just fake, i have no problem with the parry system but im just saying its fake. Nothing really to talk about here so ill move on, this is just common sense.

Idea #4:Punches & Stamina

The punching system seems to feel a little unrealistic. Jabs mean nothing in fight night round 3, the cross is decent but should be way more effective since thats the fighters strong hand. Uppercuts should do a lot more damage if landed successfully, and the body shots should do way more damage also. Ok im going to make this plain and simple, I know im not the only one who thinks its unrealistic when you can throw so many punches in 1 round and not be tired. This is how you fix this, The only reason why people throw so many punches in fight night is because they are not effective at all. #1 you can not get knocked down by a jab? Jabs are very effective in real life. #2 The cross if landed successfully should take a lot of life away because thats what happens in real life, ive seen fights where someone lands a cross and the fighter is already dizzy and just takes advantage of it. Ok im not going to continue on this part because we all know the uppercut and the special punches should also have a realistic feel to it, and they do not.

Now why am i saying the punches should be more effective? Its because if the punches are more effective people will actually time their shots, they will actually go for opened shots not just keep throwing punches like they do in Fight Night Round 3 because it takes so long to hurt someone. Not only will this be great for offense, but it will also be awesome for defense because people will actually block now. Anyways i really think that if the punches are much more effective, the game will have a much more realistic feel to it, it will also make the fights last much longer because you will understand 1 punch can really change the fight, and it can come from a jab or a cross or anything, because any punch can stun someone, not just the haymaker punches, if you hit someone with a couple of good jabs you should already have them dizzy.

Idea #5:Clinching

They already had this in the old school fight nights ( was known as knockout kings ) so they can just put that back in the game and make it much better. For instance, when you grab you should be able to break it and land a unexpected shot on your opponent, cause him to stagger and take advantage of it. Inside fighting should always be there when you clinch. Thats about it for this part.

Idea #6:Create a Boxer

For the xbox360 version, all i have to say is Xbox Vison Camera. They should make it so we can scan our face and put it in the game. The creating system is fine, they need to add way more hair, facial hair, trunks, little things like that can change the whole system and make it feel much better.

Idea #7:Story Mode

I can not stress on how sad the story mode on fight night has been. After beating the story mode 1 time, you never want to go back to it because it was so repetitive. It should not be like that at all. I do not understand why they can not just take what victorious boxers already has and use it, but of course add some stuff to make it your own story mode, not just take the exact thing victorious boxers has. All im saying is they need to make it so that when we play the story mode, we should not feel like, ok that was boring and im never doing that again.

The career mode in fight night round 3 is something they need to work on tremendously, basically all it does is take Play Now, and randomly picks fighters and you fight them and everytime you win you, your career bar goes up. This part of the game is the most important part of the game. This is what makes us come back to the game and play more, well this and gameplay of course.

my qiuck idea i guess you can call it minor but when you knock a guy out..like i mean knock his ass out the boxer who gets knocked out should actually sway because the one on the 360 they just fall and shake ...lol it looks like they are having seizures

Also if you actually see some boxes sort of jog in the ring if you watch tyson he if he gets a good shot on a guy and the boxer starts to back up he will like jo and punch the crap out of him ..lol obvously not every boxer is like that but it would be nice to see that.

Also i dont know if it was in FNR3 but if you could import music for your entrance would be sweet.

Ok Toma, I have couple of quick comments. First of great job on the ideas, im glad you are here and that we are able to start making contributions to Sportsgamer, and the Fight night community. I have a couple of major ideas in development that relates to career mode mainly and I'm excited to share them.

However, there are a few things I'd like to point out.

#1 Random Effect-I like it. I have a cool idea you could use to tie into that,which I'll post later.

#2 I have to dissagree here somewhat. There are cuts and swelling in the game, but only licensed fighters get swelling. Cabs Get cut, but do no show signs of visual signs of swelling. Fight Night does a good job of handling both. As I've played more, I noticed that cuts take longer to handle than Swelling does. Also, you can completely close a cut, by handling it longer than the percentage value suggest.

#3 The parry does belong in the game, it exist in boxing but is simply over-exaggerated. A parried shot should not leave you open for a combo. It should leave you open of one counter punch two, if you are a fast fighter. Overall, I think its a pretty balanced feature, despite the criticism it recieves. It is essential in gameplay because it forces people to be more judicious with their punches and gives patient defenders something to go for besides slipping and blocking punches.

#4 I agree, punches should do more damage and take far more stamina, infact punches the only thing really missing is a progressive stamina decrease that is evident a the fight wears on. Currently you get to start all over each round. Also counter punches should be the most damaging. I support you in requesting a stronger straight Right, but I believe that this is true only if its a counter. Counter punches is what Ko's people the most. If course you know that though. Also, Round 3 does a great job of showing the affects of punch damage. I noticed that when I a fighter is fresh, they can "eat" more punches with no real affects. Yet as they get affected by the damage done, their head snaps back more and they are stunned more, even with the use of jabs from styles other than the Judge Jab or Sinister Cross.

5.6.and 7- I agree, I'd like to have a basic template for trunks and let us control the length, add tassles, and use a variety of colors and decals as well as control where our name appear on our trunks, and defininately more hair styles. As a who wears braids (not dreads) I'd like to see more styles than just cornrolls.

Overall great list.

to add to story mode... your boxer should have a persona like madden superstar but actually act like it like Cocky,Good,evil(mike tyson lol),patriotic..(manny pacquiao his mouth gaur phillippines) and etc.. so what im saying since they got like 2 years to do this up make a boxing weight in/press conference where you can pick and choose things you want to say like how your going to beat your opponant and what did you focus on when you were training(ex.Speed,power,Stamina)also Before you do a wieght in You would Have to train and make it a must because if you are going to put all this time in you might as well do the training because to me i think it would be fun to have like a training mode where you spar but it doesnt feel boring because when i played the traing for fnr3 it didnt make me better.Make your trianer feel like trainer (good job ea for making your corner man to have audio and tell you your doing good or bad.)and when your boxing have the boxer talk trash if its your persona.

I agree with the career mode lacking and the training getting so repetitive that you just want to shoot yourself. Adding a few more training games or even having an AI that learns how well you do in training and can mimic that so you won't have to take half stats upon skipping the training.

Cutomization is important to me when I make my own boxers. Not being able to change the colors or my trunks and gloves without buying something from Dodge is terrible. I hated having to go through every piece of exquipment and hitting the "preview" button. That got old VERY quickly. How about, at least, an auto preview if the item selection is the same?

Also, I want my boxer to act like I want him to when entering the ring. I don't want to see him thumping to the beat of a song I don't even like while walking next to a ring girl. My idea would be a feature called "attitude". Several options would be available such as rookie, flamboyant, determined, aggressive, showboat etc...With one of these selected, your boxer's entrance, celebrations and attitudes toward rivalries would mimic the attitude of your choice. It could also effect the way the crowd cheers or jeers your boxer. Just my thoughts.

Other things that I don't need, but wouldn't mind.
- Magazine coverage on your boxer's performance
- Custom soundtracks
- Popularity directly relating to money earned per fight
- More options on who your rival is
- Possiblilty of broken hands, jaw, ribs and recovery training

I think that more Boxers should be added. Like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Jorge Arce, Daniel Ponce De Leon, Fernando Vargas, Floyd Mayweather, Mike Tyson, George Foreman, and a lot more.

I think they should have 'teams' like clans in the online mode.

Like what they have in shooter games and in Madden now.

I agree on bringing old fighters, but we should just leave that like after betting the champ, or like codes or something. for example fight night 4 should have cheat codes for maywether, codes for tyson, what the heck rocky balboa.. but forget about that!! i want jim lampley, max kellermen, larry merchant on fight night 4!!.. commentators!!, we need the whole hbo commentator!!! to atleast top of what i watch on hbo or PPV..commentators that is what fight night round 4 needs.

-Some fighters retire then return later

-Can watch other fights on the card
-Better records for people in the top 20 definitely the top 10
-Beating a certain person (up-and-coming prospect, or top contender/gatekeeper) can boost you up in the rankings
-More of the top guys in Feather and down are from Latin America and Asia.
-Better KO records for people that have high power ratings
-CAB fighters in the career should look like they are in the right weight division
Have more end-of-year awards like:
KO of the year
Upset of the year
Fighter of the year
-punches don't stop once you punch someone who is blocking
-The parry move should be a block, and depending on your timing of blocking; Defense stat shows how good you will parry
-Defense and Technique stat
-You should be able to take a knee
-Add a durability rating
-Fighters that are in more than one division in the game like Evander, Toney, Gatti, Mosely, and RJJ should look different in each division

- Individual Punch effectiveness (allocate 100 points to your entire repetior of punches indicating which punches are the boxers most effective) *note these aren't actual ability points but they do determine how difficult it will be to improve these punches through training and the potential for improvement.
- Showboat Vs Conservative (basically for celebrations and reactions to knockdowns and upon hearing results)
- Offensive Awareness (knowing when to throw the right punch and when the time is right to finish the opponent or when to salvage a decision)
- Defensive awareness (Ability to block and dodge punches and ability to neutralize opponents main weapon)
- Ring Generalship (how effective they are at cutting off the ring and how effective they are at escaping out from a corner)
- Frequency with which certain punchers are thrown by CPU (including haymakers)
- power sliders for every punch
- speed sliders for every punch
- slider for KO frequency
- sliders for damage sustained
