Primeau ready to play?
It's a rather short article:
Hitchcock: Primeau looks ready to play By Tim Panaccio Inquirer Staff Writer Many hockey observers have reservations about whether Keith Primeau will play again as a Flyer, but coach Ken Hitchcock isn't among them. Primeau has been organizing, overseeing and practicing twice a week with a group of players at the Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, Camden County. "Primeau has been flying on the ice," Hitchcock said yesterday. "I've been watching him. He looks like a man ready to play." Indeed, Primeau has been active on the ice for a while. However, he has refused interviews about his status regarding post-concussion syndrome. "I'm energized and excited just watching him," Hitchcock said. "But to be honest, I don't know how he is feeling. He keeps that pretty much to himself and we don't discuss it." The 34-year-old center has not played since Oct. 28 at Carolina because of post-concussion syndrome. He had been hit with a flagrant elbow to the head three days earlier in Montreal by Alexander Perezhogin, but no penalty was called. Primeau has expressed his intent to be ready to hit the ice when training camp opens Sept. 15. He did not return calls yesterday. Loose pucks. Hitchcock said fans should not pay any attention to rumors swirling on the Internet that Simon Gagne will be traded. Though the Flyers have been slow to get the winger signed, they expect him in camp. "I talked to him 10 days ago, and we expect him," Hitchcock said. "There are a number of players like him... who could be unrestricted in a year or so who have not signed. After this year, Simon would be unrestricted. Like Patrice Bergeron, the Bruins wanted to get him signed through unrestricted free agency and they did that."... Because Flyers general manager Bob Clarke is in Western Canada on vacation, there were no negotiations this week. http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/spo...l/15354600.htm It could be good news. However, now if he does come back, people will just wonder what will happen the next time he gets hit hard. Very risky move for him. ![]() |

Very risky for him, I personally think he should retire before anything permanent starts(these symptoms might already be) but it is his decision to do what he wants with his body and everybody needs to respect that, because it will be what he wants.
Also Brett, I just noticed your from Wales? My mom grew up in Swansea, I was there about 3 years ago. |

You have to expect that from a Leafs fan. They know that Keith Primeau is the one, the only...

it would be nice to have him back. Great player and a hige part of his team. I think he is playing it samrt about his condition. He is most likely feeling better but doesn't want to give any false hopes for anybody including himself. Once you have a concussion (especially that serious) you can't really say and predicit how would you feel in a real life hockey - one samall accident you may be back on the bed. So he is obviously taking his time to see if he is really good on the ice.
