Flyers extend contract with 610WIP, Macnow added

Flyers Extend Contract With 610 WIP

Saunders and Propp return; Macnow added

The Philadelphia Flyers have agreed on a new three-year contract with 610 WIP to broadcast their games over the airways through the 2008-09 season. Tim Saunders and Brian Propp will continue as play-by-play announcer and color analyst, respectively.

“We value our partnership with 610 WIP and are thrilled they will continue to locally broadcast our games over the airways,” said Flyers Vice President of Marketing Shawn Tilger. “WIP is the perennial sports station in this market and we are fortunate to have teamed up with them for countless years. The station has provided unprecedented support and enthusiasm for our club and we look forward to our continued partnership.”

“WIP is excited to partner with the Flyers for another three years,” said WIP General Manager Marc Rayfield. “The team is a first class organization, has a rock solid fan base and is always well positioned for a run at the Stanley Cup. We've been a team for the better part of three decades and hope to continue for a long time to come.”

In an effort to enhance broadcasts, WIP personality Glen Macnow has been named in-studio host to provide additional fan-friendly and interactive features during broadcast. Macnow will broadcast new interactive segments pre-game, between periods and post-game to bring Flyers fans closer to the action both on and off the ice, including around the league scoreboard, league news and notes, game calls and highlights, player profiles and post-game interviews live from the Flyers locker room. WIP personality Brian Startare will handle all in-studio host duties for weekend games throughout the season.

All 2006-07 preseason and regular season Flyers games will be broadcast on 610 WIP.

love listening to WIP's broadcasts when I can't catch the telecast. The whole Macnow deal sounds interesting as well.

I miss WIP, I allways listened on snow days and during the summer to the sports talk, can't remember the guy but his segment went on for 2 1/2 hours longer one day because the next host was stuck in traffic (snow related accidents) made fun of the other host so bad, great fun.

Probably Howard Eskin. AKA Werewolf Boy. Guy is such a toolbox.
