Flyers updates... 9/8/06
Amazing day today , So I skipped the kids workouts and want to fill everyone in on the big clubs news today. Where to start???
It was funny watching all the rookies in shorts and leaning on the glass watching the NHL Players play a pond hockey game. They looked onn with Eyes glued. Joni Pitkanen is here and skated today and looks great he was flying on the Phantoms ice in the pond hockey game they had going. He and Mike Knuble were tearing it up . Joni Looks To be in great shape. The Reason the Flyers were on the Phantoms ice today was it was Physicals day on the Flyers ICE. The Person in charge of the Physicals was a guy named Tory Weber who gave me some great info, that I can pass along to everyone. So here goes. D.Hatcher, Passed his physical and both kness are stronger then ever he said, Hatch lost alot of weight , Last year he said hatch weighed in at 258 lbs and today weighed in at 237. He said Hatch looks and is very solid. I agree I watched his Physical and he was skating with ease and keeping a good pace as well. They Hook them to a machine that is hooked to a computer and they have a mask on while they skate sprints for the on ice part. Jeff Carter, Mr Webber said that he is in the best shape of anyone on the team and is up to get this, 227 lbs of muscle! Keith Primeau. Passed his Physical and was given the green light to play this year. Peter Forsberg , Passed his Physical and can begin skating with the team from day 1 of camp. No other surprises with physicals and all who took them passed. Number changes. David Printz is switching from 3 to 37 Randy Jones will now wear number 6 Picard was given 29 Tapper was given 10 Ruzicka was given 9 Potulny is wearing 11 Eager 55 Downie 26 (Hmmmm) Jonsson 43 Timomen 46 Ben Eager update, I was told he is being shopped in a package and will be moved for a Dman if they can make a trade. For all those who asked about ****ellini , he is hear at Rookies camp and wearing # 50. No camp for the rooks on Saturday, and they might not come back on Monday I was told.Today might be the last practices with them. I did not stick around for the rookies today as the ice was being cleaned at 10:30 and they had not even taken the ice because the flyers players were useing the Phantoms ice today. The best Nickname I have heard of yet "The Terrorist" is what Nicko Dimitrokos is being called by his team mates lol, it so fits him... David Printz put on some upper body muscle and looks solid so far. He made a few really nice plays on Mike Knuble today, Just seems strange with him wearing 37 so soon. Great news. O'm not sure I like the idea of Printz wearing Ricos number. I wouldn't mind seeing it hanging from the rafters.

Thanks for the update.
I need to shoot out to one of these practices. Great news, though. Gets me excited for the drop of the puck. |

Agreed, i don't like that, it is way too soon for anybody to get that number.
And with Primeau, i think its just the same old, his body is ok, its whats upstairs is broken. Plus, if it did indeed involve any PCS he could easily pass it one day and fail the next, he needs to be symptom free for an extended period of time. I would not put him on the ice in a game if he was day to day like that. |
