No poll for this so let your voice be heard. We have:

  • Alan Wake 2
  • Callisto Protocol
  • Resident Evil 4 Remake
  • Dead Space Remake
  • Silent Hill 2 Remake

So basically, we have 3 remakes, 1 sequel, and 1 new IP on the list. My pick is Callisto Protocol as I love the OG Dead Space, so looking forward to that and as well for RE4 Remake. The rest are a wait & see...especially for Silent Hill 2 Remake as its being made by Blooper so taking caution here.

Don't forget the Alone in the Dark remake :D

I currently have Callisto Protocol on preorder, Schofield looks like a passionate guy, and it seems like he has access to the right tech to deliver the goods.

Alan Wake 2 looks like a day one buy, I've lost count how many times I've finished Alan Wake (probably like 3 times on consoles, 3 times on PC)

like being Alan wake is bad thing right?

beside Alan wake 2 is survival horror and different approach to original that was a phycological action game.

lol. It was a joke dude, chill. Knew you'd appear. :D

But to be honest, Callisto is on top just for being new. Also looking forward to RE4R. Not so much the others.

Dead Space remake feels pretty useless. I'd just play the (still good) original, don't feel like I need a remake.
Alan Wake never hooked me, so I'm naturally hesitant about AW2. But if it's good, I'll play it.
The choice of developer for Silent Hill 2 was.. interesting. Can't say I have high hopes.
RE4R looks pretty cool so far. I just hope they don't change things for the worse. I'm already not too fond of the more serious tone they're going for, but it's not a deal breaker.

Survival Horror fans are feasting, the times of everything going Gears of War/ Call of Duty and The Evil Within carrying the Survival Horror banner solo are over!

As @R4gn4r0k noted let's not forget Alone in the Dark is also contributing too. Will it be good? probably not.

As for order? I would go for this in hype level-

Dead Space Remake, Callisto Protocol, Resi4Remake, Silent Hill 2 Remake, Alan Wake 2, Alone in the Dark Remake

And this order for which game will be best to worst-

Resi4Remake, Dead Space Remake, Alan Wake 2, Callisto Protocol, Alone in the Dark Remake, Silent Hill 2 Remake

*If you're itching for a new Survival Horror game right now check out Signalis. It's not a high budget game but a well crafted and decent love-letter to the genre. It's brilliant in a lot of regards. If you are one of those people craving 'originality' and hating on remakes, yet not at least looking into this game doesn't that make one a hypocrite? I would say so.

@RSM-HQ: Yeah I also have my doubts about Alone in the Dark remake, the devs have made the magicka games before, they were good but this is in a new order.

I also heard the writer behind SOMA is attached, one of my favourite horror games ever.

Really? well now that is hype.

Gonna have to keep an eye on that Alone in the Dark game, and hope for the best.

The biggest ponder for me with the AitD franchise, is it's tough to think if the series was ever good? The ones I've played can't say many good things about them.

Sure its legacy pre-dates every other franchise here so has the excuse of no competition to evaluate quality, the original has more in common with Point n' Click Adventure (not even a good one either); yet if we consider it as the grand father of Survival Horror, the first doesn't mean much with video games outside historical purposes. It is evaluated on its merits of playability and AitD as a franchise is the weak franchise here.

I'm both optimistic and doubtful for Alone in the Dark. I'd enjoy another franchise to rival the current powerhouses of the genre.

Overall just hope it goes well for all these games, as I'm very happy Survival Horror is having a resurgence.

@RSM-HQ: @R4gn4r0k: To be honest, I never played any Alone in the Dark games so I'm not all up to speed what the series is all about so I keep forgetting the remake is on the way and I was impress what I saw from the trailer. I did however watch the live movie years ago lol.

Edit: I also love SOMA so that's good to know about the upcoming remake will be alright.

@davillain: I only binged a few AitD games during lock-down I wasn't that impressed, the original and New Nightmare seemed to be the best games, and even then they're 6/10's at best.

I think the remake has an uphill battle however knowing it's a remake of the first which has a strong and interesting story, hopefully that benefits the game with writing talent from SOMA making tweaks to the script.

After playing Resident Evil: Village I realized survival horror games are not enjoyable for me. Just felt like a chore and not enough action or excitement in the gameplay for my liking so I won’t be picking any of these up myself.

Alan Wake 2 is the one I know least about, so therefore I am most interested in it.

I don't think Resident Evil 8 was a very good 'Survival Horror' game, had a lot of underwhelming looting and poor-mans MetroidVania elements. Pacing was very messy.

The game honestly was quite the slog for me also and have no plans to ever revisit Village even with the update to 3rd person; and I love Survival Horror games so take that as one will.

@RSM-HQ: yeah I’ve heard this from a couple people on here now, it sounds like I picked a bad title as my first foray into the genre. Maybe after a couple months I’ll try a different one to give it another fair shot.
