Report: Chubarov to Russia
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. :(
Apparently on the radio today with his agent Don Meehan, Chubby is going to be playing in Russia this year. Apparently he has an offer from the team in Russia that the Canucks truly can't match.. Shiiiiit. I guess this is why we signed Richard Park now. |

Chubarov >>>> Park. :(
Not that there's anything wrong with Park, but Artem is an excellent PKer and faceoff guy. |

Well, if this turns out to be true, it certainly leaves a fairly big hole down the middle. Mo and Henrik are the centres on the top two lines. Kesler will take up one of the bottom two spots down the middle. Linden and Cookie are options, though Linden's more effective on the wing.
Supposing everything goes as it should (i.e. Players with qualifiers sign, etc.), and Chubarov decides to stay in Russia, the lineup will look something like this: Code:

I hope I'm not the only one startled looking at that roster. Nonis has some serious work cut out for him if he wants to put a team on ice that has more than 2 lines and 2 pairings.

The only thing I'm concerned about is the defence. I'm still perplexed by the Sopel trade considering we haven't gotten anyone in return so far, and I don't know who (if anyone) Nonis is going after.
I honestly can't see the Canucks going with two rookie d-men in their lineup on opening night. I'm betting Nolan Baumgartner will be the seventh d-man and one of Bieksa, Koltsov, and Mojzis will graduate from Manitoba. That leaves one more spot in the lineup, and I hope to god the Canucks sign someone, even if it's just a lower-pairing vet. And you think you're concerned about the Canucks lineup. Just imagine how I feel about the Moose lineup. That talentless hack Marc-Andre Roy actually has a chance of making the team! It might only be a slight chance, but...![]() |

Yeah, our defence is definately looking weak right now.. Thanks for that Fergo, ****ing stats man. :D
It really irritates me when people say losing Chubby is a GOOD thing. Then they go on about it frees up salary room, he's easily replaceable, the Canucks should go out and trade for Brendan Witt, etc. It's rediculous of how easy it seems to some fans to do some of this stuff and he is definately not easily replaceable. Kesler now has some big expectations to live up to unless the Canucks acquire another center. He looked out of place last season but obviously the full year with the Moose has helped him a great deal. Still, I'll have to believe it when I see it if Kesler can handle 13-15 minutes a game against elite competition for an entire season. If not we're screwed and have to acquire a centre who is capable of it if Kesler can't handle the load in his first full year. And to those fans who say Kesler is better, faster, more reliable, stronger than Chubarov I find that really hard to believe, that's stretching it a ****load and they really should wait until the season is well underway before they say something like that. |

And the moral to Nigel's post is people on Canucks.com have the hockey sense of a three-year old from Sri Lanka.

Kesler has yet to impress me __________________
