Cookie Re-signs?
According to a report on TSN.ca, via Mojo 730 in Vancouver, Matt Cooke has signed a three-year deal worth $4.6 million in total. For those without their calculators handy, that means he'll earn on average $1,533,333 a season.
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=136987 I personally think it's a bit of an overpayment. If he got Sedin money ($1.25 million), I would've been happy. He definitely deserved a raise, but I think he got a bit too much. As things go, the Canucks will be around $38 million with 21 players in the lineup (with my figures, at least). So much for having a few million to pay around with later on. ![]() |

And the past 3 years before this at 450k.. I feel this is sort of a back payment, plus deserved money for him. PKer, checker, hitter, energy guy... When given the chance can score goals. PLays more then the Sedins, and in more situations... Plus, I love him, and he is a fan favourite.. Good Job :)

he may play more than the sedins but he can't produce nearly as much as them. In no way is he worth over 1 mil. Basically you could say the same about Park, he's super fast, he can stickhandle, he can PK, he can check and Carter you can say he's big, he can muscle his way to the net and he can score. I sense that we are going to see a Sign & Trade deal thing.
I think Nonis is smart enough to not pay Cooke 1.5. As much as I love Cooke and no matter how clutch he is, 1.5 doesn't cut it for me. Thats just My O. |

Well, if u really wanna see an aging Ronning, or a lazy Fedorov play for 600k less then Cooke, then good for u. Id rather pay cooke what he wants, to stay here for 3 more years, for go a year of UFA and play for the Nucks. I personally, and know many others would love to see Cooke stay and Sedins go. I dont care of point production, look at our first line. Cooke is a main stay player for this team. Park, in terms, sure skates fast and can stick handle, but isnt the same, energy, go out there and do something, not including scoring type of player to get the game going.

I'd rather have someone who can grind and play a good two-way game on the bottom two lines, Ronning and Fedor can't do that... although I'd pull a Jill if Ronning signed with us again ![]() speaking of Jill... that was disturbing >.> __________________ ![]() ![]() ![]() Quote:
