Cloutier, Sedins, Get Qualifier

Quote:
'Nucks hand out offers

The Vancouver Canucks are trying to get their key players signed before July 1.

Sportsnet.ca - The Vancouver Canucks have made goaltender Dan Cloutier a qualifying offer in order to keep him from becoming a free agent July 1, The Team 1040 in Vancouver is reporting.

The offer is for $2.4 million, and it means that the 28-year-old will have until July 15 to either accept the offer, or go to arbitration.

Cloutier, who was a first round choice 26th overall by the New York Rangers in 1994, was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Meanwhile, the Canucks also handed out qualifying offers to both Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin. Each of those deals is worth $1.25 million. The twins have until August 1 to accept the offer or go to arbitration.

Arbitration is set for August 1-15.

His last contract was 2.5 million i believe. So he'd be taking a pay cut if he accepts. He should, cause he's got no hope playing anywhere else.

Doesn't a qualifying offer have to be more then his last contract to maintain rights? That was my understanding of the restricted free agent system.

The only one i could see rejecting there offer is one of the twins, even so, they should both get paid the exact same amount of money.
