What situation? Cloutier = Starter, Auld = Backup w/ plenty of games.

But he pretty much came out and said that Cloutier shouldn't have been re-sign and Auld should be able to step right in. Which for the most part, most of the members on this board (including myself), disagree with.

Cox is an idiot. You can't just pit a rookie goaltender into the starting position. Yeah, Clouts isn't always reliable, but you need him there to be the starter for now, so Auld can get used to the game at the NHL level, and to build his confidence.

How long is Clouts' new contract? 2 or 3 years? That's perfect. Split the games 75/25 to start, then over the next 2 or 3 years, cut it down to 60/40, and just let Clouts' go once his contract is up. It's the only way to get a young goalie comfortable with his situation.

Cloutier's new contract is just for the next season.
