A Letter From Dave Nonis
September 16, 2004
Dear <insert my name here>, After attending the NHL Board of Governors meetings in New York on Wednesday and after the Commissioner’s announcement regarding a work stoppage, I felt it was important to reach our Ticket Holders directly. Although training camp will not commence on Friday, we are hopeful that things will be resolved quickly so we can be back playing hockey again soon. We understand that there must be a new CBA before our game can proceed. This new agreement is essential to ensuring a strong future for the Canucks in Vancouver. As an organization we have little control over the negotiations, but what we can control is how well we are prepared once a settlement is reached. We know from experience that the most prepared teams will have an advantage, and we will be one of those teams. Marc Crawford and our coaching staff are working hard to ensure we are ready the moment the season starts. From the team perspective, we have had a good summer. We have re-signed the majority of our players, added significant depth with the Manitoba Moose, and we will benefit from having had nearly half of our roster play for their countries in this year’s World Cup of Hockey. In the meantime, our goal is to continue to support our community commitments and to celebrate the game of hockey. Although the NHL is on hold, thousands of boys and girls around B.C. are excited about another hockey season. We are going to dedicate the efforts and talent of our staff and Coaches to those boys and girls all over B.C. who play our game. We will announce these initiatives in the near future. The Canucks are excited to be supporting hockey throughout the province and we are proud to be a part of “B.C.’s biggest family”. As a reminder, in conjunction with games cancelled by the NHL, refunds will be processed within 10 business days of the first of each month for games in the previous month. Interest will be paid on the refunded monies calculated at the greater of 2% (annually) or the HSBC one year redeemable term deposit rate from September 15, 2004 to the end of each month. All refunds will be credited via the original method of payment. If you wish to leave your refund with us for future use, please call your Account Manager, Andrew Merai at (604) 899-7615. If you have any questions or wish to discuss anything during this period please call 604.899.GOAL (4625). Thank you for your continued support and we hope to be playing soon. Sincerely, VANCOUVER CANUCKS David M. Nonis Senior Vice-President and General Manager This email has been sent to Simon , a Canucks Inside Edge member.
