no, actually it couldn't be the dallas vision :) the poll was fixed since day 1.

absolutely zero dallas fans that i've talked to voted for that name.

Well Cole, does it really surprise you?

I mean honestly, the Cowboys of the 90's got shoved down our throat as 'America's Team', so why would another Dallas-based franchise have the audacity to use that angle? I agree it's stupid, but everyone should've been able to see that one coming. I just can't wait to see what they do for the logo...

i saw dallas americans coming, because the owner is canadian...

nothing against all of you wonderful canucks, but the average canadian thinks very lowly of the average texan... batard is a perfect example of this. most of the canadians i've met seem to think that 100% of texans are bush clones, fiercely patriotic, support the war effort, and will buy anything with a cheesy american flag design on it...

i truely believe that the owner picked this name, because he assumed texas=bush=usa, therefor texas=usa.... it actually seems odd to me, as texas is probably one of the LEAST american states. texas used to be it's own country, for god's sake... americans makes a lot more sense in a city like boston, to me...

but oh well, luckily the WHA is still the WHA :) what do i mean by that? it will get ZERO serious coverage, it will last 1 season at the MOST, and it will have worse television ratings than the ECHL All-Star games.

for once, the apparent lack of decent hockey coverage in texas will be a blessing :)

it hurts me to say this, but i'd rather brett hull sign with the blues of the NHL than the americans of WHA... i hate the blues, but i don't want the golden brett to be associated with the WHA.

having the greatest pure goal scorer of all-time, playing a in league as shady (or dodgy, as they say in england :)) as the WHA, just doesn't sit right with me.

Might also like to note texas is the only state with the right to defect from the USA...we're like the quebec of the US.

As for the name, i could care less, i don't think the WHA will last long anyway. It seems like its gonna be an XFL type thing, where no one will even remember who won the ONE season they actually play. the only business they will get is from the fans waiting on the NHL to resume.
