Bauer Vapor X Gloves

Product: 13 inch 04 Model (all black)

Fit: I was in the market for some gloves that weren't super expensive but weren't super cheap. When I first tried these on at my LHS I really liked they way they felt. Although it doesn't have the Dri-Fit liner and the durasoft palm the XX's come with I still liked the feel of the glove and I still do.

Protection: I play no contact recreational hockey but there is still quite a bit of hacking and slashing. I've taken many fairly strong slashes to the hand and even though I could feel the impact the gloves do it's job by still protecting my hand. However, I was once tripped by the goalie on a by his stick and landed on my palm area. This glove does NOT have a Thumblock system so my thumb bent back a little and was sore till the next day.

Weight: I'm not bothered by weight but these glove seem fairly light to me, nothing like the Eagle X70s however.

Durability: I've used these gloves for about 20 games now and they're holding up fine. The material is still in tact, but the top hand glove palm is starting to blacken and the stitching is starting to fall out but other than that the pigskin palm is pretty durable.

Other/Conclusion:
- Price isn't bad, I paid $89CDN, I should have paid $10 more and gotten Nike Quest 2.
- Doesn't come with Nike Air unit, Dri-fit lining, or Adjust-Cuff.
- The X is screened on unlike the XV, XX, and XXX glove (which isn't such a big deal)
- Does not come with the thumb-lock system.
- 3piece Index Finger and 2 piece fingers.

I've talked to other people who have this glove and I've gotten mixed feelings about it. Although I think this is a fairly decent glove, it just isn't something that I would get again. My next glove is most likely going to be a pair of Eagle X70s or Nike Quest 2s.

For that price I would probably get the Mission HE750 or 550s. I've never been a big fan of the Bauer gloves.

I should probably just save up and sink a bit more money and get some comfortable Eagles
