Goalie Unemplaying :( Pads: TPS X-hale (Blk/Wht): decent pad overall. Took some getting used to at first as was going frmo a 32 Bauer 6 to a 34 X-hale, but they're quite comfortable once you wear them for awhile. Only problem I find is they tend to give up a fair amount of rebounds (which is kinda the opposite of what they're supposed to do :s ). Trap: Vaughn 5500 (Blk/Red/Wht): solid trap for the use I got out of it. I got it, wow 9 years ago, and she's still going strong. Only thing is theres some wear on the outer rim and she's too small. Very well made glove though, as its survived 8 years of AAA/AA hockey (took last year off). Blocker: Vaughn Velocity (Nav weave/Sil weave/Wht weave): I love this thing. It's the most comfortable blocker I've ever put on, and I wouldn't want any other blocker. It's durable, you never feel a shot...in fact you can actually feel the blocker absorbing the hsot and then shooting it off into the corner. I just wish I knew how to clean the palm so it was closer to it was when it was new. When it was new, the palm was absolutley phenominal, now it's pretty crusty (nothing a little H2O can't fix though). C&A: Simmons 9200: I love this as well. It's nice and flexible and not bit like Giggy's. Although I would like the shoudlers to be lowered about 1/2", I still like it. Pants: Simmons (not sure on model): pretty decent pants. They have the stupid side bars on them, which I'm not too fond of, but they're still playable in. Skates: Bauer 3000: I've used the same model for the past 10 or so years, just upgrading to bigger sizes. They don't fit like a cloud, and I often get lace burn, but they're not bad skates. I'd go for the graf's, but they're heavy as sh*t. Mask: Heaton Jr: Yes, that's rgiht, Jr. As with my trap, I've had this baby for 9 years as well (Minor Atom ). And yes, it's pertty damn small on my head. While this baby was in its prime, it was phenominal; i never felt a shot and it was comfy as hell. Now, however, I can clearly tell the warrenty is up. I can feel pretty much every shot to the head, and the mask is bloody tight. I got absolutely laid out at the blueline last year, and I think the age of the mask contributed to me getting concussed. Needelss to say, I need a new one, but she'll always be my baby.Sticks: well...I don't have any as of now. I'm forced to use my busted up Heaton 10 Kolzig curve. Normally I wouldn't complain, cause I love these sticks brand new. However, the shaft has tonnes of "waiting-to-be" fireglass splinters, so I'm not fond of moving my hand to shoot the puck. I'm looking to pick up some RBK 6k's when I head down to don simmons later on. __________________ ![]() wedge // there is no freedom in life without freedom of mind says: i don't need advice for this ****. - wedge on dealing with women. what's a chaz?
|
I'm game.
Chaz. Forward. Haven't played in a couple months. Sadly for some reason I just lost interest for the time being. Helmet: Bauer 5000 - Like in Seth's review thread, best helmet I've ever used. I was always a CCM guy, but when I was looking to get some new equipment a while back, i figured i'd try on the bauer 5000 on a whim. Man am I glad I did, sooo comfortable. I use an Itech pro-wave visor on it as well. Gloves - Bauer XXX. Again, never was much of a bauer guy before. I was using some Mission gloves that were pretty nice. I tried on some Oakleys, and some Eagles, but nothing was nearly as comfortable as these here. They are great. Shoulder pads - an old, thin, cheap pair of CCMs. Lightweight and enough to give me the protection I need. I don't want a pair of those bulky linebacker style pads. Shin pads - Jofa 9040 (I think) 90-somethings. On the advice of Sethy, I ordered a pair of these. So light, comfortable, great pads. Best shin pads I've had. Elbow - Jofa somethings. Same line as the shin pads. Nice, but not quite as comfortable as the shins. Still nice. Pants - CCM 452. Not as fancy as the more expensive models, but much better than the pair of 80's CCMs i had before. Sticks - I had always used the easton composites with a coffey curve. I recently switched over and got a CCM Vector with the Thornton curve. nice sticks. |

Forward Novi Varsity Roller Hockey Helmet: Nike NHHH0004. I thought it had some other name but that's the only thing I can find on google. Pretty simple, I guess I like it.. I wore an old Jofa bucket for the longest time, and made the switch to the Nike about a year ago. Took some getting used to, since I went from a white cage to a black cage.. The white was perfect, and when I switched to the black it would distract me and I found it bothersome, but I'm used to it now :). Elbow Pads: Hespeler Gretzky Basix.. or something along those lines. Matched with the shoulder pads, which I no longer wear. I've had them for roughly 8 years and absolutely love them. They're small as hell but get the job done.. I tried new elbow pads out that were actually my size, and I hated them.. So I just hope these can last a bit longer. Shin pads - Jofa 9040, same as Chaz I guess. I like them as well. Got them recently since I had my old shin pads for six years and they'd always move around, so if I fell they wouldn't do anything, and they probably ended up making it hurt worse.. But I got these and love them. They stay in place and I never feel a thing, and they're light too. Pants - CCM girdle with Hyper Titaniums over that.. Black/Silver/Blue scheme. Solid stuff. Gloves - Mission Matrix.. Red/White/Blue scheme. Very nice gloves.. Took a lot of courage for me to finally switch gloves since I loved my old Tours a lot, but I'm glad I did. These offer more protection and mobility.. Got them cheap as hell too .Skates - CCM Vector PF6.. Top of the line, just got them. SOO light.. Easily the lightest I've ever had. My skating has improved tenfold since I bought these suckers.. Rinkrat wheels too.. I love how quick I can move in them. Stick - I have two that I regularly use.. TPS Rubber Response is the first.. Some factory curve, C77 I think. I think I figured out that it's most similar to a Nash curve. It's quite a curve and really helps get the wristshot high, fast.. It's all I've used since I got it.. I also have an Easton Synergy, just the plain silver one, Modano curve.. It's solid, and I prefer it for stickhandling which is why I normally just use it in practice (also so I don't break my Response).. Both quality sticks. |
