Question In line hockey goalie mask

Right I'm going to admit that I really don't know what I'm doing because I've never bought, seen or touched any sort of hockey equipment before. But for some really obscure reason I quite fancy having an in line hockey goalie mask for Christmas. :D

Now, before I send my letter to Santa Claus he's going to need to know how big my head is. However, every site I seem to go to either sells Junior or Adult sizes, without any actual measurements shown.

I'm 24 years old but I'm quite short (5, 11) and after seeing the sizes they give out for jerseys I could quite easily fit into their junior size jerseys. So do I take this as a guide and buy the junior mask or should I really stick with the adult size?

I'm asking all these questions because every UK site is vastly overpriced compared to US sites and if I get this wrong it's going to cost me loads to send back to NA.

So I was hoping if someone could help me, who maybe has experience with this. Or if someone even knows of a site whereby they actually list some measurements?

I'm currently looking at the following masks...

Junior

Adult

Thanks for any help. :)

^^ That didnt help him one bit. Id say go with the senior if its anything like a ice hockey mask.

5'11"? That's not too small.. Unless your head is incredibly tiny you'd probably be best with the Adult mask.. They're adjustable, so you'll be able to tighten it if needed.. It's probably best to get something that's a little big instead of something that's too small.

He's right.. Go with adult if you're over 17, and you were 24, so.. :) The head won't expand or increase in size after that age (asked my cousin-doc when I got my mask), and like Slapper said; you can adjust the mask to whichever size you see fit!

Yeah at 5-11 you definitely need an adult. Hell, I'm only 5'9".

I don't know what you were looking at, but I find it hard to believe you could fit into any junior equipment. Most of that stuff is designed for 13 and younger. Unless you were like 5'6, youre gonna need adult.

There should be some measurement on the mask. Player helmets generally come in Small Medium and Large (and I think Extra Large for anyone with a gargantuan cranium ) but they're all adjustable as well. I would think a goalie helmet would be the same. Just find a tape measure somewhere, or maybe go to a shop that sells hats where you can get your head size measured.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Believe it or not I'm actually the smallest in the family, so I suppose I underestimate my own height. However I am quite light in terms of weight, at just 8 stone. But anyway, enough of my personal statistics.

I'm more than likely going to go with the Tour H-33 Inline Hockey Goalie Helmet from either hockeygiant.com or 247hockey.com. It's listed as an entry-level helmet, which is "perfect for players just starting". Sounds good to me. :)

Again, thanks for all your help. :)

If you are gonna be playing with a ball, then that mask should be fine.

However, if you will be playing with a puck, I'd rethink about that mask.

Don't worry I'll be using a ball. :)

The link for 247hockey.com (that I gave above) has a useful indicator as to what level a goalie mask can be played with.
