Inline Goalie Pads...Ice or "Inline" level?

Lately I've been thinking about picking up some new pads, and retiring my aging Tour Line model. What I would like to know is if any other goalies here play any inline hockey, and if owning a set of "ice level" goalie pads make that much of a difference between a set that is designed for "inline league use".

Basically, is spending the extra $100-150 for ice level pads better than getting the $200-$275 range of inline pads???

Personally, I use an old pair of Itech pads for inline hockey, my retired ice pads I bought about 5 years ago. I didn't want to spend anything extra for inline pads, so I just started using the Itechs when I recently bought some new Vaughn pads for the ice. The Itechs work just fine for me for inline, and they were about $300 back when I bought them. I don't think you could go wrong with some similar and relatively inexpensive ice pads.

Just curious, what inline pads were you looking at and where? Never really looked into them too much.

There are some inline specific pads that are basically I think designed to be a bit lighter (as the puck isnt as heavy) and have more breatability (because inline is usually a bit hotter, seeing as there's no ice to keep cold, heh)

Tour and Mission both make some decent pads for not too much.

Current:

Thinking of...

"Inline"
$120 $130 $160

"Ice"
$250

These are all based off that 247hockey.com website, and those are just the designs/prices I like, not the colors. And I dunno why, but I'd like my next set to have a closed toecap.

Anyone have any info/stories on these pads?

If you can, go to a store and try them on, see what you like. Otherwise, stick with Tour? It worked before :) I had the whole Tour GTL set there, and I loved it. I played with the ice hockey model of the Koho blocker and trapper and hated them in comparison.

Tour makes good inline stuff, considering that's all they do. I'd stick with them/Mission for inline stuff. Still it'd be best if you could make it out to a store to try them out for yourself.

I am a fan of my Tours, its just that the straps are about to snap off and the toe covers are on their last stitches, so I'd figure why not give a go with another line and see if there's any difference.

The only store that I know of that has pads is this place called Play-It-Again-Sports, but they usually only carry super used pads. There is a pure hockey shop around here, but the guys who run it are dicks so yeah. Unless the first place gets some of my choices by accident, it might have to be a "pray and pay" situation with the newer Tours.

Those are my Itech pads! - pretty much - just a newer version, and mine are purple where the black is (I know, I know, but they were school colors )

I was talking to another goalie in my inline league, and he's loving his Tour's BIO-1000 pads:

$239.99 at 247hockey.com

If you want cheaper, those 550s seem like a good bet.

They do look quality, but if the 550's are any good, then those would have to be my choice:

1) Cheaper
2) ...1000's look GOD awful IMO...

So yeah, if Christmas gets good here, I'm thinking I'll have a new set of pads by the new year :D

Yeah, 1000's do look pretty ugly, hehe

Best of luck getting those pads!
