Hockey Visor
I never had a problem with the cage mask as a kid and only until i recently began playing in a league again did I notice I had issues with the full face mask. I've always thought players were stupid for not covering up but now I see the problems with wearing a full face mask - I have trouble breathing with it on and I also have trouble communicating with my teammates. Also I noticed the added visibility I could have without it when I recently played a pick up game without the cage on (no visor).
Anyways, I'm in the market for purchasing a visor and was wondering what you guys think would be a good purchase. Or what you own and what you like dislike about it. I like the look of the aviator style visors but the straight line ones are ok too. So far I've looked at The Oakley Pro Mod Aviator Visor and The Itech HX50 Personally I like the Oakley Better - but purely from a 'looks nice' stand-point (although I have a pair of oakley sunglasses which i love - but i doubt that even matters lol) the cool thing I like about the itech one is you can get replacement lenses if need be. Any thoughts/comments/ideas? __________________

Personally, the straight cut visors have been an easier transition for me. I grew up and play goal almost exclusively, but when playing out, I prefer that type of visor. It seems like my vision is less impaired at the bottom cut with a straight line. Just my preference.

I can tell you something tomorrow about the itech. I purchased a new visor. The ITECH FX50. It's the same like the HX50 only with a cage in front of your mouth.

I have th Hx50
its absolutely fine. I used to use the Oakley but it scratches up pretty easily. The Itech is better and its replaceable. Doesnt fog up at all and no need for the sprays for some reason. |

I like that you mention it doesnt fog up as I didnt really want to have to fumble around with sprays and such - how do you find it vision wise? I take it you find it to be pretty good? I'm leaning more towards that now actually... also because its a lot easier to find in stores - like i said all of the okaley ones I found were pretty banged up (the boxes) the only one I found that was in decent condition was a yellow tinted one and you couldnt pay me to wear that ![]() __________________

This is what I use. It's worked very nicely for me. I was orignially going to go with the straight cut, but they didn't have one, so I ended up with this. I think it's a good cut because it follows the same shape as glasses and such. Good design. I imagine the oakley's are good too if you went that way. The HX50 seems like a fine option to go with. |
