Goaltender Equipment Guru's: I need your help!
I'm coming up 18 years of age, and still playing with the same goalie pads I purchased when I was 15-16. I'm currently playing with 32" Jossa goalie pads.
![]() The pads work great, but aren't full fledged butterfly goaltender pads. I'm almost 6'1" as it stands, and I plan on playing Junior B hockey this fall, the Jossa's are great for mobility, but horrible for the butterfly as they are nearly 4 years old. I do not want to spend more than $900 on a pair of pads, but I would like a newer style of goalie pads. Could anyone recommend some quality goalie pads that do not cost an arm and a leg? |

Hmmm, my friend got a whole RBK set for $800, but I can't remember where he got them.

when it comes to pads, don't look for recommendations if you are looking to spend real money
just go everywhere, try on everything, and then decide, cause everyone's opinions will be based on legs different shapes, lengths and widths than yours |

Give Eagle, RBK and Vaughn a serious look if you want buttfly pads. If you're really going to be playing junior next year it's going to be tough to get a good pair for 900 bucks. You aren't going to want to settle for the lower end stuff. Perhaps try e-bay if you don't mind some slightly used stuff. Pro return might be a good idea.
I'm sure you know this, but 32inch is WAY too small for a goalie over 6 feet, especially one playing butterfly style. You're probably going to want to go to at least 36. |

Update: I might be getting some 35" Jossa 606's (orange and black), as well as the 606 Jossa catcher for dirt cheap from my friend, who is also the same guy who got me my current Jossa's. Hopefully this works out, thanks for the input! Keep it coming. |

Go for the RBK's.. good price at Sportchek. But you need bigger pads bro. 6'1" and 32" dont go together

RBK, Vaughn, TPS and check out new Vortek Oracle pads if you have the money. Brians is decent as well but I would say if you need an option in getting a cheaper pad at a good level go with RBK since they have 5K, 7K and Premiere Pro although you can't go wrong with any of the other brands i've mentioned. RBK 7K is great for the price though
