Looking for a stick!

I'm looking for a composite stick either One-piece or shaft + blade.

BUT, I don't want to spend much money.

Can you recommend me a few?

Does anyone of you know where I can find an explanation of the different stick flexes? On Bauer it's called 100 flex and RBK says 35 kp. But how is 35 kp compared to 100 flex?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Looking for a stick!

Flex typically ranges from 70 and 110. This number corresponds to the force that it takes to bend the shaft one inch. For example, a 100 flex requires 100 pounds force (444 N) to bend the shaft 1 inch. A 90 flex requires 90 pounds force (400 N) to bend the shaft 1 inch, and so on.
Aggressive and defensive players lean towards using stiff shafts for stick-checking and controlled slap shots. For a decent slap shot the blade of the stick makes contact with the ice a few inches before the puck. The shaft bends (gets preloaded), loading it full of potential energy, then as you pull the stick through that bend it snaps back into position as it makes contact with the puck. All this force is transferred into the puck.
Finesse style players generally prefer flexible and light weight shafts for wrist shots or snap shots stick handling and shot accuracy. A flexible shaft provides more whip which translates into more velocity on shots. Smaller players tend to use more flexible shafts to increase power on slap and wrist shots.

Thanks for your explanations, but what are 100 flex compared to 35 kp (for RBK sticks).
I have a Ferland composite stick at the moment with the stiffness of 220. What is this compared to Bauers or RBK's values?

I am going to buy one tommorow, Thanks.

I was wondering though what selection of patterns did sportschek have for the sticks? Was it just 1 player?

Re: Looking for a stick!

for RBK/CCM sticks, multiply the "KP" by 2 and you'll get your flex
35 would be around 70
