Oven Baking Skates?
What skates can have this done? Someone told me the cheapest ones that can do this right now are CCM Vector 4.0 they are like $200.

Not all that sure. I do know that Mission has their own skate-bake oven for their skates.

Re: Oven Baking Skates?
You can bake any and all skates.
The skates that are advertised as "oven ready" usually contain a special type of lining in the boot that reacts with the heat and can produce better results. You can do it at home quite easily. Turn on you oven to a low temp (175 or so I use) once it has reached temperature put the skates in for 2 minutes turn the oven off and pull them out after another 2 minutes. Sit on a chair with the skates on in a fashion that will keep you knees at a 90 degree angle with your feet flat on the floor, and wait. You can also soak your socks with water, as this sometimes enhances the fit. Enjoy some TV, hockey is usually best. Carefully remove the boot, I reccomend un-lacing 2 extra eyelets more than usual, as this allows for easier removal and less stress on the tongue. __________________ ![]() Nuclear weapons - "unwise and dangerous"

Shouldn't this be in the "Food Network" section of the forum?
You gotta remember to lightly season your skates with roasted garlic and peppers before baking them and put a slice of pineapple in the heel of the skate once they come out of the oven to give it that fresh and tangy smell and texture. ;) |

You guys give me too much credit.
Really, I mean worst joke of the day, perhaps, worst joke of the week, very ambitious... But to think this could last an entire years worth of joke attempts is really far too generous of you. ![]() |

Re: Oven Baking Skates?
The wet sock won't really do much, since most new skates have hydrophobic lining on the inside. Baking skates does away with the need to use water in the fitting process. If you are going to bake skates it needs to be a convection oven, and not all skates are made to be baked, especially old model skates. Make sure you know 100% if your skates can be put in an oven before you do it.
