Re: Stick curve recommendation
I use a heal curve, which isn't a curve at all if you look at it. I like to be able to pass the puck with a lot of force without lifting it.

Re: Stick curve recommendation
what position do you play?
if you play D you want a flatter stick because you have a better shot at hitting the slap shot and blocking shots with the poke. also, a slight toe curve (on the tip of the blade) would benefit passing and wrist shots. if you play up front i would stick with the slight toe curve. once you get to too much curve you end up sacrificing blade surface area for a better feel on the puck and it just hurts your game in the long run. i prefer something like this: Kemp's Hockey; Hockey Blade Pattern Chart check out P91 (the 4th one down). it has TOO MUCH curve. the inside of the blade is facing the ice, resulting in an automatic wrist shot and eventually very low slap shots. any of the first 3 have that toe curve i was talking about and if you look strait on from the top of the stick you can see it doesn't face the ice, the stick is perpendicular to it, giving you better usability overall. basically it just depends on where you play, what you are doing on the ice, and how you shoot. |

Heal curve is what true snipers use.

Re: Stick curve recommendation
i guess i am just more methodical about my shot. i prefer wristers, tend to keep the stick low and take my time to shoot. good accuracy, and what not.
anyways, heel curve is kind of pointless, unless you misconstrue what the heel actually is... basically, the "heel" is the blade and when i say toe curve i mean what would be the toe of your foot in terms of the stick. where the shaft and "heel" of the stick are strait and the curve goes from the heel to the toe, resulting in a flat, smooth curve like this: ![]() Last edited by nabokovfan87 : 10-06-2008 at 11:05 PM. |

Re: Stick curve recommendation
I've played D all my high school career and I prefer to use a stick with little curve. Since you use Nike Bauer, I would recommend using preferably a PM9 Pattern. It has a slight curve in the mid, and is pretty much flatter all around. If not then maybe the P88, but the PM9 is a great all around pattern.
