From the Bleachers Community Question: Is darts a sport?

This week's community question takes us the world of darts. Is this a sport in the way bowling is? Or is another reason to call someone an "athlete" who really isn't one?

I think darts is a sport, but calling those involved "athletes" is a massive stretch lol.

yep pretty much what he said, it is a sport only because you can compete in it, you can also compete in thumb wrestling so its a sport, athletes? by now way do you have to be athletic to become a good dart player, its more technique just like bowling and cornhole....

Darts and bowling are games, not sports, but the difference doesn't really bother me. I couldn't care less. I love darts, though.

My dad plays for a darts team, it's quite cool to watch sometimes, and I can play to an extent. Randomly, I switch throw at darts.

what does that have to do with the question he is asking for the show?

Played at the highest competitive levels, darts is a sport. Played by people like you and me just for fun, it is a game. Nowhere does it say that all sports are athletic. However, an athletic person is more likely to be good at darts than a non-athletic person.

not true, u ever seen a competitive dart league?? there are a bunch of old fat guys that might have been athletic 50 years ago.

naw not me, after college football wore me out, i feel like im 50, so i dont do **** but play some softball, well dont do nething now that i broke my foot and just got a up to knee cast on today...

golf is a very strenous activity, i know for damn sure when i golf i sweat and im usually kinda sore the next day. its more of a sport then darts
