Tiger Woods 09

Tiger Woods 09 Training Session

Trainer: 'Sider
Day 1:

Sider had me create a golfer and threw me right into the fire to hit the links. First, I used the gamer face to create my guy. I was disappointed in that he didn't look anything like me. It's like they just made a random Mexican golfer. I guess we all look the same to EA Sports.

I got the driving down pat. But I found the putting kind of hard. I wasn't sure how to really judge how it was supposed to go. I noticed that if I hit the L1 button it'd show me a put view where it'd draw a line to the cup. I was able to judge if i need to move it left or right based on that. I got a few birdies but was doing at least 2 puts most of the time.

I have some custom drills to work on afterwards. I think the areas I need help in are putting, and judging where to place the ball. Like on the the hole where it's in the middle of the water. I hit the ball wherever it was place by default and it went in the water.

Final Stats for 18 at TPC Sawgrass:
  • Average Skill 3.3.
  • Drive Distance: 206 yards
  • Shot a 76 (+4). Not bad for the first time out
  • Longest Put Record
  • Hit all Fairway record: 14
  • All Fairways Trophy Ball
  • Total Winnings: $3,200

Re: Fred's Performance Institute

Thats actually pretty good for a first time created golfer, especially the FIR. Yea, those caddy tips will have your attributes up in no time. He places you in your four worse places in the past round and pretty much forces you to get better at it. Good to see you online

Re: Fred's Performance Institute

What you need to do now is get a game online now so you can see how it is during the simulataneous play. You cant get any attribute increases online, but its a fun experience nonetheless. I would also go to the Club Tuning driving range and you can adjust your clubs distances and spins on a virtual driving range. It will actually help your game all around when you tweak your clubs as they follow you online and offline. I would do both of those for now to experience it at least. And play as many games, preferably start up a PGA Tour Season to get your attributes up, that will make your online experience more enjoyable against guys that are in love with Tiger and their maxed out created golfers

Edit: As far as your putting, you are only gonna get better at that by doing it over and over, and you can do that in the Play Now section once you adjust those settings to default to your Created Golfer. You will want to get your putting to less than 2 strokes per hole ASAP. Those small missed putts will murder your score

Re: Fred's Performance Institute

I think NHL 09's Be A Pro mode would be a good learning tool. It has arrows on the ice for where you are supposed to be at all times. You get graded at the end of each game on how you played and are given some feedback on what you need to do better and what you did right. And there are some tutorials for all the basic actions needed to be successful.

Re: Fred's Performance Institute

I think you'll be pleased once you get to NHL 2k9 or NHL 09. I played it the other day and man I had alot of fun.

Day 3

Tiger Woods 09 Training Session

Trainer: 'Sider
Day 3:

Finished my custom drills today to finish up the ones coach evaluation suggested:
  • Short Game- 0.8 Boost
  • Putting-0.8 Boost

Played the front 9 at Pebble Beach. I shot an even 36. I was pissed. On the 8th hole i was 1 under and I got an f'n bogey. One of those puts where it sits on the lip of the cup and doesn't go in.

I got a ratings boost. My average skill is now 4.1. They told me I'm doing well on my putting but I need to get my power up. How do I go about this? Just keep playing?

Thats it for today. I'll just keep playing and hope to be in that Tiger Tourney 'Sider is having. That'll be my "test".
