![]() THE DEFENSE COMES TO PLAY ![]() Dominique Foxworth steps in front of Issac Bruce to pick off this pass from Aaron Brooks. ![]() Brian Calhoun runs through a defender en route to his first career NFL touchdown. ![]() Darren Sharper steps in front of Issac Bruce to catch his second interception. INDIANAPOLIS (AP)- For the second time this season, the Shamrocks defense played an all around great game and held the Indianapolis Colts to 17 points in Boston’s 33-17 win. Things started off in the first when Colts kicker Olindo Mare put one through the uprights to give Indy a 7-0 lead. Justin Medlock struck back with a field goal of his own and then new starting runningback Jerious Norwood punched one in from 2 yards out. The second quarter started with Aaron Brooks throwing an interception to Darren Sharper. Sharper proceeded to run the interception back 32 yards for a score. Brooks then found his own receiver, Issac Bruce for a 16 yard score, but Medlock kicked another 3 pointer as time expired in the half. Brian Calhoun scored his first career touchdown on a 1 yard run to start the third, and then Medlock kicked another field goal to put the game out of reach. Patrick Surtain picked off a Chris Leak pass to make it close, but after that score, Medlock had another field goal to give the Shamrocks the win. “The offense didn’t play that well,” Coach Carroll remarks. “But our defense was lights out for the most part. Chris Leak didn’t have a great game by the stat book, but again our receivers dropped a lot of his passes. Our secondary let [Aaron] Brooks complete a lot of short stuff, but he also completed a lot of passes to our team. Hopefully we can ride this momentum all the way into the playoffs.” The Shamrocks improve to 8-1 and will have a bye week next week. Their next game is at Ralph Wilson Stadium against the Buffalo Bills. Re: A New Beginning - A Boston Shamrocks Fantasy Draft 'Chise
![]() ALL ABOUT THE OFFENSE ![]() Julius Peppers nearly causes a fumble on this sack of David Garrard. ![]() Jerious Norwood hurdles over Manny Lawson on this carry. ![]() Chris Leak shows his school spirit by performing the gator chomp on this touchdown run. BUFFALO (AP)- Maybe it was just rookie hazing, or maybe it was that extra stick-em. Whatever it is, the receivers decided to catch Chris Leak’s passes this game, and it showed up on the scoreboard. Leak threw 3 touchdowns in the Shamrocks 44-30 win over the Bills at Ralph Wilson Stadium. The game started off all Buffalo as Rian Lindell hit a field goal and then David Garrard and Peerless Price hooked up for a touchdown. However, Chris Leak found a wide open Drew Bennett on the next drive to bring Buffalo’s lead within 3. Garrard started off the second by finding Owen Daniels on a controversial touchdown call. It was ruled a touchdown, but the replays showed that Daniels only had one foot in bounds prior to catching the ball. Coach Pete Carroll challenged the call, but the call stood. Jerious Norwood eased the pain by rumbling 84 yards for a touchdown and the next drive he scored again from 83 yards closer. Lindell booted two field goals before halftime to give Buffalo a 2 point lead. Two rookies in Leak and Steve Breaston hooked up for a third quarter score and then Buffalo answered right back with a Leon Washington TD run. Leak decided to use his legs on the next drive and ran in from 4 yards out. That would be as close as the Bills got to the Shamrocks. The fourth quarter had a Justin Medlock field goal and another Leak touchdown pass, to All-Pro tight end Antonio Gates. “Our offense really showed up today,” remarks Carroll. “Our defense didn’t play real well, and we got robbed on that touchdown call, but overall I’m proud of this team’s effort. Chris [Leak] looked sharp out there today, and he proved why I named him the starter. [Steve] Breaston got back on track with a big game, and Jerious [Norwood] ran extremely hard, especially coming back from a bruised sternum.” The Shamrocks improve to 9-1 and will travel home to face the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday night.
