Re: The bark returns: A Cleveland Browns franchise
![]() Crunnel Canned ![]() The Cleveland Browns have announced today that Head coach Romeo Crunnel and his staff of coordinators have been fired. Crunnel in his tenure with the Browns posted a unimpressive 25 wins and 39 loss record. He also had a dissapointing .390 win percentage. Some potential candidates for the job are belived to be Patriots offensive coordinator Josh Mcdaniels, Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, and former Ravens head coach Brian Billick. |

Re: The bark returns: A Cleveland Browns franchise
ESPN Breaking News
Cleveland has announced the hiring of Head Coach Josh Mcdaniels ![]() Stuart Scott: The Cleveland Browns have repordatly announced the hiring of former New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh Mcdaniels. For more details we are going to send you over to NFL insider Chris Mortenson. Mort what are the specifics on the deal? ![]() Mortenson: Well Cleveland has announced that there will be a press conference in about a half an hour. We don't know too, too much about the specifics of the deal, but it is rumored to be a five year contract. Stuart Scott: Now, what brought the Browns to make this decision overall Mort? Mortenson: Well it was rumored that the Browns were very close to signing Steve Spagnuolo, the Giants super bowl winning defensive coorinator, but they scheduled Mcdaniels to visit and absolutly fell in love with his offensive schemes and belifes on coaching and the game in general, stuart. Stuart Scott: With that being said, what can you tell us about Josh Mcdaniels that we may not know? Mortenson: Well he will be the youngest head coach in the league, entering this year at 34 years old. Mcdaniels is also the coordinator that has lead the powerhouse of a offense in New England to all of these records we've been seeing. He's drawn both high praise for Tom Brady, and from Bill Belichick. Stuart Scott: Alright, well we will all be glued in to see the press conference thirty minutes from now, right here on ESPN. |

Re: The bark returns: A Cleveland Browns franchise
ESPN: Browns press conference
![]() Mcdaniels: First off i would like to say hello, and that i am glad to be apart of this storied franchise, and that i accepted the job to coach them. I will at this moment take any questions that you guys may have for me. Reporter: Well i think the most prevelant question right now, coach, is what are you going to do about the quarterback situation. Mcdaniels: Brady Quinn will be our starter going into the year Reporter: So what does that say about Derek Anderson's future? Mcdaniels: I will take care of, and explore all options reguarding that when the time comes. Reporter: What do you plan on doing about the Kelen Winslow situation? He has asked multiple times to be released and traded. Mcdaniels: Well, I haven't had the chance to talk to Kelen yet, but i assure you i will do so soon. I'll evaluate the situation after my conversation with him. Reporter: Coach, coming from New England and that pass happy offense you ran down there, are yuo going to do much of the same here? Mcdaniels: I belive the keys to winning in this division are solid quarterback play, a good run game, a offense that doesn't make key mistakes, and a hard nosed, phyisicall defense, so i would expect to see a few handoffs every now and then *laughs* Reporter: Coach, have you made any decision about your coordinators yet? Mcdaniels: Actually yes. One of the things i came here to talk about was the coordinator situation. I have personally spoken to, and hired Terry Shea to be my offensive coordinator, Rob Ryan to run the defense, and Rusty Tillman to take care of the special teams. I have emmence confidence in all of these coaches, and are proud to have them on my staff. Reporter: What will you and Coach Ryan's defensive philosophy be? Mcdaniels: Well we will run predominatly in the 3-4, but we wont be afraid to mix it up and run out of the 4-3 every now and then, if that answers your question. *No further questions* |

Re: The Bark Returns: A Cleveland Browns Franchise
![]() On eve of Free-agency, Browns F.O ready to make decisions Well here it is, it's finally arrived. "It" being free agency, that is. The Browns have already made some moves, re signing fullback Lawrence Vickers to a two year deal, free safety Mike adams to a two year deal, and backup left guar Lennie Friedman to a three year deal. The Browns have also decided to not retain some players, and let those players test the F.A market. Players not Retained: SS Sean Jones (87) FS Gary Baxter (84) MLB Andra Davis (84) MLB Leon Williams (83) FS Brodney Pool (84) It is belived that the Browns are highly interested in former Panther's corner, Chris Gamble. Gamble is still young, and is a ballhawk in the secoundary, the Browns are also looking at Darren Sharper, who was released by the Vikings just a few short days ago. Don't be surprised if Cleveland makes some moves outside of F.A, dealing Derek Anderson and or Kellen Winslow for picks in the upcoming draft. |
