[360] - What the AWR rating really means...
For me the AWR rating has always just been a OVR rating stat boost. Thats how I have always looked at it. You may have a 85 OVR player starting at a certain position and for some reason the 76 OVR bench player plays better when hes in there. But your not willing to take that 85 OVR player out of the game right? Because hes rated 9 points higher!!!
So why is this? Well theres a number of reasons, user controlled players always play better than CPU controller players, certain positions only need certain ratings to be succesful in madden. So I devised a system that I used to help me dertmain how to put the best team out on the field everytime I play. Something we all as Madden ballers have to do is decide on what our Depth Chart is going to look like throughout the season. Alot of times its not a clear cut decision. Something that I use to help me make these decisions is this little tactic. The team that I'm going to be playing with I change all the AWR of the players that I am deciding on to one specific rating. I usually use 90, you can use whatever you like and still come out with the same outcome. The purpose of this is to filter out the useless AWR rating and to get down to the nit and gritty of every player. You will now have more of a realistic overall rating for the players that your deciding on, because they both have the same AWR and there OVR rating will now reflect there other more important attributes. A perfect example for Madden 09 would be this: Minnessota Vikings: FS Madieu Williams, FS Tyrell Johnson Williams- OVR 88; AWR 64; Speed 90; ACC 90; STR 63; AGL 91; CTH 73; Johnson- OVR 80; AWR 48; Speed 94; ACC 94; STR 77; AGL 92; CTH 68 Williams- TKL 72; JMP 92; BSH 74; Pursuit 87; HTP 75; Press 65 Johnson- TKL 84; JMP 95; BSH 84; Pursuit 90; HTP 78; Press 45 Now its pretty clear that Rookie Tyrell Johnson is the better option, but because of the ratings boost Madieu Williams recieved with his AWR ratings hes rated 8 points higher. I dont really think anyone can make an argument that Williams is the better option, however Williams was better at play recognition and man/zone coverage, but I also believe these stats have really yet to come full swing into the madden series. The stats listed above are the ones that truly matter for the FS position. Espicially because these players are both FS (most gamers USER control the FS) they will be getting a lot of user controlled action! Hope this helps everyone decide on those tough depth chart decisions. So next time you take the virtual gridiron make sure to play JOHNSON!!!!!! if you guys like this ill be willing to breakdown more players that are in similar situations of teams all over the league...just give your feedback! Thanks. Enjoy! __________________ ![]() Unfinished Business EAFL 49ERS 6-6 Courage+Belief= Life |

Re: What the AWR rating really means...
well i know if you have a CB with low AWR he is easy to get beaten deep. i know it does mean something for every position but u are also right because they do use it as an OVR boost but only sometimes.

Re: What the AWR rating really means...
i totally agree with this thread, more so than just user controlled player.
i like to switch to the corner once the ball is in the air, and a cb with high attributes is better than one with high awr, mean to catch up to the reciever. |

Re: What the AWR rating really means...
getting beat deep is attributed to the following 3 ratings press rating, speed and acc.

Re: What the AWR rating really means...
I do know what im talking about. 94 speed is not elite speed at cornerback...any 94 speed CB is going to get burned by any elite WR with speed

Re: What the AWR rating really means...
and for that matter if you do the same situation with Young and Mike Mckenzie its clear that Mckenzie is the better CB to play...your looking at this as a speed alone factor...Mckenzie is better in nearly ever catergory other than speed related catg. ie acc agil and of course speed.
side not i got side tracked! we were talking getting beat deep but youngs stats at cb really arent good enough to put him alone on an island...i would only feel safe leaving 96 speed and higher cbs alone one on one. __________________ ![]() Unfinished Business EAFL 49ERS 6-6 Courage+Belief= Life |

Re: What the AWR rating really means...
yeah but you said only press, speed, and, accel only matter deep. thats not true. mike mckenzie dosnt get beat deep as much bcause of his AWR.
94 is elite speed Last edited by Aso21Raiders : 07-22-2008 at 01:59 PM. |

Re: What the AWR rating really means...
mckenzie has 75 press. youngs press is a 59. see a glaring difference there? that is a reason why! those 3 are the main attributes on why cbs get beat deep.
