i say they should be allowed, but only 1 per game. Here is a rule of thumb for all questionable plays. Do you see them in the nFL? And how often?

ok thanks, i really don't use fake punts that much at all but sometimes it is tempting especially when my opponent comes out in a punt block formation.

Hey Panther!! I remember you as a good guy from back over when I was welcome at a different madden site. glad you could join us.

As for the topic, I do the same thing pantherking said. As long as I'm not pinned deep in my end (or maybe if im losing), if the D comes out in a block, ill sure as hell run the fake pass. If you can be allowed to rush the punt like that, i see NO reason why the fake punt should be thought of as cheese.

As long as you are working within the limits of the 4th down rules then you can use a fake punt/fg.

See, now this I disagree with. If it's 4 and 10 from my 40 and the guy has punt block on, I don't see why I shouldn't be allowed to go for it. If the D is going to willingly send everybody but the returner, the offense should be allowed to throw the ball instead. That's just my opinion.

Right or wrong, I think this topic could be debated on countlessly. I do think that maybe this subject does get looked at a little more closely, with possibly a vote among members of this great site to express whether or not they feel the fake punt against a punt block should be alllowed at anytime.

If he has punt block on, audible to max protect. The 4th down rules will still apply in this situation. Our site is dedicated to NFL style play and fake punting just isn't something you see that often in the NFL. It's more than enough that we allow it within our 4th down rules, any more than that would be overkill and would actually contradict what is set out in the fourth down section of our guidelines.

We have just finished revising our rules and now threads are hitting the board asking us to change this or that based on what one or two people think. That's just not going to happen. We are happy to clarify the rules (which is what mcs03 wanted), but we will not engage in an ongoing debate on every little rule that a couple of people disagree with. The rules are brand new, let's give them a chance to work before we try and make significant alterations.
