i say they should be allowed, but only 1 per game. Here is a rule of thumb for all questionable plays. Do you see them in the nFL? And how often?

ok thanks, i really don't use fake punts that much at all but sometimes it is tempting especially when my opponent comes out in a punt block formation.

As for the topic, I do the same thing pantherking said. As long as I'm not pinned deep in my end (or maybe if im losing), if the D comes out in a block, ill sure as hell run the fake pass. If you can be allowed to rush the punt like that, i see NO reason why the fake punt should be thought of as cheese. |

As long as you are working within the limits of the 4th down rules then you can use a fake punt/fg.

Right or wrong, I think this topic could be debated on countlessly. I do think that maybe this subject does get looked at a little more closely, with possibly a vote among members of this great site to express whether or not they feel the fake punt against a punt block should be alllowed at anytime. |

We have just finished revising our rules and now threads are hitting the board asking us to change this or that based on what one or two people think. That's just not going to happen. We are happy to clarify the rules (which is what mcs03 wanted), but we will not engage in an ongoing debate on every little rule that a couple of people disagree with. The rules are brand new, let's give them a chance to work before we try and make significant alterations. |
