Rare figure?
Hey guys. I was checking out the figures at my local Walmart and there were a few Gretzkys and they were all painted in the Oilers blue jersey, except one. It was in a white jersey. I thought I remembered seeing somewhere that off colour jerseys were rare, but I'd never seen one until now. So I bought it, and I'm just wondering if this is actually rare or if I'm full of ****. It's from the NHL Legend Series 1.

Its isn't common, but isn't necessarily rare either. This is called a chase figure. Usually a chase figure comes 1 per case of 12. Nearly every figure made has a "chase" version, usually made in a different colour jersey or different team. From this series, the gretzky appeared to be the most produced figure (as seen by the numerous figures sitting on the shelf), however they don't release actual production numbers. Based on what people have seen, from Legends series 1, the oilers Gretzky was the easiest chase figure to find. All of the other figures in the series also had chases with the exception of the Kings gretzky, which only came in black (as it was to depict a specific moment in time). Aside from all that, you are still pretty lucky to get a chase figure, especially at the store. They are usually snagged up pretty quickly. I haven't checked prices recently, but it isn't going to make you rich. You MIGHT be able to fetch about $20 US out of it, but I wouldn't expect much more, at least if you are looking to resell it.
Hope that answers it. |
