The Red Sox are actively discussing a trade with Colorado involving Todd Helton. I personally couldn't be more upset about this news. There is no true benefit for Boston by acquiring Todd Helton, especially not if it comes at the expense of sending Mike Lowell to Colorado. Lowell was a solid player for the Red Sox last season and he's a vaccum at third base. What's the point of sending him to the Rockies in exchange for a declining mountain hitter who hits softly and carries a big contract?

I personally think they will not trade lowell for him. They will be trading minor league contract. I think it's a dumb deal for them, because last few years helton has not been healthy, and has been hitting around 270, but it's worth the chance, if they got the money to spend. Because if he gets hot watch out, especially at Fenway.

his OPS has dropped 100 points each of the last 2 years. I'm not a big follower of sabermetrics or anything like that, but that seems like a hell of a statistic. Also, he's been hitting for mediocre averages recently and this is in the NL in Coors field. I'm afraid to think of what he'd do at regular elevation in a league that's far superior

Sounds like the Helton trade isn't going to happen. Red Sox fans rejoice. He sucks away from Coors Field. Check out his road stats over the last 3 years.

But it's short at fenway over the red monster if he takes other way, and he can pull it over peskys pole. He is a solid hitter who can hit there. He can hime everywhere, he had a virus last year, and has been hurt. If he was 100% healthy you guys would take him in a heart beat, but were not sure.
