It comes down to the person. For instance, I don't care about the Northeast, the AL, much less the Yankees or the Sox. I have no connections there outside of some players I used to like that got bought by those teams.
Hell, I could argue that the Packers/Bears rivalry is bigger but that's because it's more personal for me. |

baseball rivalries suck, mainly because there is no contact involved, and it is basically the same stuff every time... and you play so much...
Hockey and Football rivalries are much better IMO... in hockey, games between the Leafs, Sens and Canadiens always seem to be so much more physical and entertaining than regular games.... In baseball, the teams play eachother like 20 times a season... so it really isnt such a big deal. __________________ Toronto Raptors: 32-26 Toronto Maple Leafs: suck again Baltimore Ravens: Troy Smith = Future? Even as a football guy, I'm going to say it is the best rivalry in sports, mainly because not only is there great history between the 2 clubs, either one of them rarely have a down year. So the 2 teams are always loaded with top talent, always in the playoff/WS hunt and its always great baseball. It's definately debatable (OSU/Mich, UNC/Duke, etc) but IMO it's the best in sports.

I could care less about the Yankees or the Red Sox. Like OhMyBosh said, 1 game out of the 20 times they play eachother doesn't really matter. And it can get heated in the playoffs, but what other rivalry doesn't?
